I Love Movie Shootouts ... And Heres The Best Ones

No Country For Old Men has a good shootout at the motel Eagle when Moss had to jump out the window and take over a truck... Chigurh lays into it with the Tec-9 from like 50yds. Always loved that scene.

That is the scene I was referring to in NCfOM. How the heck did you know it was a Tec-9?!

Firstly, I don't know what that is (Noob), and I only ever remember seeing a brief silhouette.

You can see it on the seat of his car when hes driving around looking for the bleep. Also in the shootout you see it when Moss grabs it after Chigurh ducks away. I checked IMFDB.org to confirm it and it was.

Note: I forgot The Town for recent movies. The Fenway Park shootout was awesome, that whole sequence is nuts up until the end.

Ambishot- Yes I agree, Hard Boiled is also an amazing one

Venom1956- Not a fan of Japenese / Chinese shootouts??? They are by far the best... Aside Heat and The Way of the Gun

40caljustice- LAST MAN STANDING is another good one I left out... EPIC

cosmicdingo- I have seen that quote about John Woo and his love of the Beretta design... Back in the 80s alot of guns did look silly tho (exclude glock)

TylerD45ACP- WAY OF THE GUN is probably the top shootout ever, its realistic, satisfying, and EPIC!!!! It rivals THE KILLER for me

I have to agree with Jason G, the cemetary shoot out in The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly is by far MY favorite shoot out scene. Not a lots of shots taken, but the intensity in the filming of it is incredible!

Hombre - Paul Newman & Richard Boone - SAA Quickdraw - Final Scene

Jeremiah Johnson - when Robert Redford attacks the camp of Crows who murdered his family

Yojimbo - Toshiro Mifune - Final Scene - Samurai Katana vs. Gun quickdraw (this movie later re-made in the US as both Fist Full of Dollars & Last Man Standing

Miami Vice - Jim Zubiena Episode - amazing speed draw by "hitman"- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hA-xIssgT-o&feature=related

@ 8shot357-- you must be talking about The Salton Sea with Val Kilmer :). He uses a S&W 8 shot perfomance center snub at one point in the film. There is also very amusing dialouge about the 8shots held in the gun. If you havent seen it check it out, not the greatest movie but interesting.

Commando?

Where Arnold takes "cover" behind a row of peonies, and after a dozen bad guys empty like 3000 rounds into the peonie bushes he pops up and shoots them? (odd that they all have to reload at the same time).

I'll admit it's funny but I wouldn't call it good.

LOL, defintley not good CountZero. Arnie is firing the M60 as he climbs over a wall it is swinging everywhere and still gets bad guys. Not to mention his nuclear claymores he uses and being able to take an M67 grenade blast at 10ft. and suffer a minor flesh wound:eek::confused: He's Arnie I guess thats all that matters. Every time I see that scene I laugh, the amount of rounds the BG's fire they would have accidently hit him hahaha.

I do not find shootouts in movies realistic so i focus more on the comedic.

My favourite is from one of the naked gun movies where Leslie Nielsen walks into an ambush where a bad guy starts shooting at him from a balcony. LN hides behind a drum as the bad guy shoots at him while screaming that he is gonna kill him. LN then screams " i cant hear what you saying. Dont fire the gun while you talk" hahahahaha

I'm with the other voters with Open Range. My favorite is the opening sequence of the shootout; they build up the gunslinger/Costner showdown so much that you expect that to be the climactic battle of the movie. But, the gunslinger gets enough time to reiterate that he's a giant prick before Costner shoots him square in the forehead. Epic.

6 shooter with 19 bullets lol

I liked the movie open range as well, but too many shots in his six shooter.
Oh well its hollywood.

Saving Private Ryan

1) The opening beach scene in the Dog Green Sector on Omaha Beach with the 2nd Rangers going in. That scene is intense and mindblowing.

2)The last shootout in the deserted French town. That was a great scene as well.

Heat on a good surround sound system is outstanding. You feel as if you are in the middle of it.

Honorable mention goes to Unforgiven and The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly.
