My dad, he is the closest person in my life and I love him more than anything. I am not with a girl right now and to be honest they give me too many headaches. Although their was this one girl Saturday night....oh well thats another story!:D Nope, my dad is my best friend and he is #1 in my life. He was a single parent and raised me alone. We bonded and still do. I dont care what anyone says about me being a softy and what not. I give my dad hugs everyday and cook for him since he has a bad leg now. I cherish range time with my good ol pop!:p

MrDontPlay, not to go too far off topic, but lack of any hobbies has, in my experience, been a major warning sign. Those are the women (since I'm male; I'm sure the reverse is true for our female members, too) who end up wanting you to provide the vast majority of their entertainment and happiness.

You may have found an exception, but in general, a person without any interests is a problem waiting to happen.

TailGator, congratulations, sounds like you have a pretty good situation. My BIL treats my sister like gold, and I know how nice a feeling that is for the rest of the family.

Those of us w/boys try to raise up a gentleman. Those of us w/girls hope desperately that she finds one!

If I had to cram parenthood into two sentences, those are two very good ones. Amen, bro.

TailGator, congratulations

Thanks. Good prospects for making a shooter out of the boy, too. :D

I would love to get my wife on the range. To be honest, she is my best friend and we enjoy everything else we do together and have so for 35 years. She just has no interest in guns. My shooting buddies are my son and son in law. Keeps it in the family and makes sure the next generation is keeping the second amendment breathing! And my SIL has actually convinced my daughter to take a trip to the range! She thinks it's fun and enjoys th etime we all spend together. Maybe she can convince the wife...

Being that my wife is a Southern Country Women, I'm very fortunate that she loves her handguns, and all sorts of shooting sport.....Hunting included.

My wife doesn't like shooting very much. My favorite shooting partner is a buddy from work. He lives outside the city limits, adjacent to mucho wild wooded land. I just park in his driveway, and we pack up our goodies and head up the hill behind his house. We shoot up things like spaghetti-o's, enchilada sauce, watermelons, full cans of soda, ketchup, mustard, I could go on for a while but you get the point. I tell ya, it is the most fun a man can have with his clothes on.

Wish I could say my wife is my best shooting buddy, but she hates guns :( .

My parents, sister and brother-in-law, and a friend from work all make great shooting buddies though. And I can tell my son will be the best of all when he is old enough.

I took my wife to the range once and she hated it. I usually go by myself or have taken a friend or cousin on occasion. One friend just moved away, one just moved back but his wife just left him and my cousin pointed a gun at me (not intentionally) at the range the one time I took him.

So it is probably safer for me to go by myself. I don't want my cousin to shoot me or someone else on accident and I don't want my other friend to shoot himself.

I do have a buddy that is a police officer but he has 3 kids and we have kind of lost touch with one another, maybe firearms would be a great way to get back in touch.

My mom is actually pretty fun to shoot with too. She is deceptivley skilled for not shooting alot at all. Shes 5ft. and is small and she fires all calibers including small 357s. I remember two times she suprised me, once after not shooting for a year, picking up my 92FS and putting 15 rounds into just about a chest size area at 50yds. Then another time at the range she wanted to try my S&W 1911 at 30ft. She shot very well with it hitting inside the black with most of the 8rds, probably 5. It was her 1st time handling a 1911 and shooting in a while, she impressed me. My mom rocks to tell the truth and is really fun to shoot with as well :).

I shoot alone mostly, used to really enjoy going to the range and matches with my brother. Sadly, those days are ending as he is moving to Montana. As I currently live in SC I doubt either of us will be making the " hey bro wanna go to the range/match this Saturday?" Phone call anytime in the near future.

My best friend is my wife.

She only goes shooting a few times a year with me.

What could be better than sharing a pastime that i enjoy with the love of my life?

2nd place belongs to my dad, though he looks like he might slip to 3rd place in a bit, our coming baby looks like a contender to edge dad out.

While, I do enjoy shooting with the girlfriend, my best shooting friend would be either a toss up between Pops or my best friend/battle buddy/hetero-sexual life partner.

My girlfriend likes to shoot but is also not a fan of crowded ranges and the hot weather so i only get her out every month or 2 and she only lasts like and hour at the range but I love shooting with her and I try to get her out there as often as I can. So I shoot with my best friends mostly. I do go alone and when i do i do seem to get alot more practice in but i still find if I'm looking for pure fun i don't like to go alone.

I confess I have not read all the replies to this post... so forgive me if I'm duplicating previously given advise....

all I can advise is never go shooting with both your wife and girlfriend at the same time.

Remember the toast given by Captain Jack Aubry in Master and Commander:

"Gentleman, Here's to your wives and girlfriends... and may they never meet."
