I know I bought Cheap Ammo, but Come On?

I don't care that BassPro can't take them back, they need to refund your money, regardless. They buy a lot more ammo from Winchester than you ever will, so make them deal with Winchester about the problem. I would for sure tell Winchester also though.

If you bought online or in the store with a credit or debit card, you can get your card provider to not pay the charge at least, in case your complaint to the store is ignored.

Keep us posted about what luck you have with BassPro. I can quit shopping there if they want to be stupid.

Pyzon, Thank you for the advice... Well my order of plans are to call Winchester see what they say, I may shoot some it it...

If I get no recourse from Winchester, I will go back to Bass Pro... Unfortunatley, I do not have a store real close to me, so it will have to wait until I can get to the store in person... I still will try over the phone...

I will keep you posted...

:)

Thats just cheap 22 ammo. It may turn but it wont pull easily. It will probably still shoot ok. They wont do anything about it, it is what it is. Don't like it, buy CCI Mini-Mags like was already stated. Save that stuff for friends so they don't have to shoot up your CCI's.;)

I called Bass Pro and they said they couldn't take them back. due to Federal Regs about returning ammunition...
I thought I had read just about every fed law, rule and regulation regarding firearms but I seem to have overlooked this one. Would someone please cite this regulation. My deep-down suspicion is that it is store policy rather than law.

I have gone through several boxes of Remington Subsonic .22s with the same issue. The loose bullets themselves didn't cause any problems; seems like I had about a 10% failure rate on the first try though. They've been shot out of a Beretta U22, an old H&R revolver, and a Remington 597.

They should be fine to shoot.

Well phoned Winchester this morning, they said that the ammo should not be that way and they are sending me a UPS Call Tag to send it back to them at their expense. They will issue a Winchester Gift Certificate for the price of the Ammo plus a bit more so that I can purchase something else.

:)

I never tried that hard... just seems like it would, it wasnt just turning in the case, it was able to be wiggled in the case...

:)

I shot some winchester .22 ammo that had loose bullets the same as yours. The bullet would spin in the case but it would take allot of force to pull one out. It seemed like the the case crimp was in a groove in the bullet allowing it to spin but not pull out. Also, they shot fine.

I don't think you had a problem in the first place. Cheap .22 is cheap .22. I'm sure it would have fired just fine. I've shot lots of .22 that was "loose" even some I could pull out by hand although it was never what you would call easy. That's nice of Winchester to give you a refund and all, but if you keep shooting cheap .22 (like I do) this won't be the last box of "loose" ammo you'll come across. You really should have tried it first.

Well I think its fine if you wanna shoot yours, but considering Winchester said it wasnt right, I'll go with what they have to say... I agree cheap ammo is cheap ammo... If I buy anymore bulk stuff in the future, I will certainly look at it before buying it...

Thanks for your insight...

I know with the Federal value pack .22lr have a tear strip on top of the box. I guess you can say it's sealed, and maybe even the Remingtons are too. I dont think the retailer will let you peel the strip just to inspect them. Just saying...it might be hard to resell if you decide you dont want them.;)

I never shoot cheap, moreso low-quality, ammo through my .22's. Theyre so darn picky, its not worth it.

Federal bulk packs have been $21.99 in my area for the past 2 months, so I was as happy as ever. They just recently went up to like $35.99 a few days ago. Pretty lame, but what can ya do.

I would attach a picture of the bulk pack, but for some reason its not allowing me to upload pictures from my comp. 'Failure to upload'.
