I have a solution that I think Hugo Chavez would be happy with

No every one should be educated about the government, but I detect a bit too much tin foil in many who speak out against the government these days.

Many of the buzz words used, like warrant less wire taps, torture, etc have absolutely nothing to do with what the Gov is doing they are nothing more than talking points designed to elicit a negative response. Computers doing pattern analyst and coercive interrogation techniques are not warrantless wire taps or torture.

However...

warrantless search and siezures, and indefinate detention without due process etc. on American CITIZENS is a problem if such measures pass. It would obviously be a direct violation of the Bill of Rights. Giving up essential liberty for security, and we all know what Franklin said about that.

Careful with the mods... this subject isn't gun related... and the mere mention of "them" will get this very interesting thread shut down...

The UN is like and embassy... it isn't really part of the US...

The noble purpose for the UN was originally American made and started with the League of Nations for the purpose of opening dialogue between the Nations of the earth... to avoid war and promote World Peace, etc.

But it has deteriorated far below the original intent and far beyond recovery...

US out of the UN and the UN out of the US

ABSOLUTELY

but he's OUR idiot,

For years I have listen to members of the left criticize the intellectual abilities of the Republican politicians. But the irony was almost all those people had no where near academic background nor made half the accomplishments in their life, yet were doing the criticism without anyone asking them the question on what ground are you able to judge?

Why is it the likes of Ronald Reagan, Gerald Ford, Eisenhower and yes George W Bush can be such idiots yet raise to the top office in the land? Maybe the “dumb” moniker is something to make the pseudo intellectuals out there feel better about their own short comings.

I may indeed be a pseudo-intellectual, although I'm not sure of your definition of that word. But I had to laugh at the idea that our current president belongs in the same category as Ronald Reagan. His political enemies could not stand him, and yet the worst that could ever be said of him was "actor", not "idiot". That man was incredibly intelligent. When he spoke, he *sounded* intelligent. He commanded the respect of our friends and enemies abroad. He certainly *did* understand symbolism and political theater, but he understood the international arena and he understood domestic politics and economics.

I remember Ronald Reagan, and George W. Bush, sir, is NO Ronald Reagan ;)

You must not remember the 80s than, you could take everything they said about President Reagan and change the name to GWB. I remember many of the left calling him a lovable oaf, dumb, etc, etc, etc.

I'm over 50, so yes, I certainly remember the 80's. When his political enemies wanted to really insult him, they'd dig out the old movies with the chimpanzee or the 20 Mule Team Borax shows or whatever, and make it clear that to them, he was a puppet on the strings of the Far Right. Or a puppet on the strings of his wife  "Actor" was the usual epithet.

I was too young to remember Reagan...

However, it seems to me that Bush's own party is totally tearing itself apart on the, dare I say it, "idiot in chief". Perhaps Bush, his cronies, and Congress should've taken a class on cultural sensitivity, and customs before occupying a country in order to "liberate" them and force "democracy" on them, now it's already clear that Iraq is failing, and that unless they somehow get their act together civil war is inevitable. Sorry, what works for American DOESN'T work everywhere, and it seems that the government fails to understand that.

OK, I can live with that...
Especially when the gap between Clinton, Gore, Clinton, Carter and Heinz-Kerry makes
GW look soooo good! :D :D :D

I love it, he's an idiot? Well that "idiot has been makin the opposition look stupid for 6 yrs. He probably has a good laugh about it. "Do they still think I'm stupid?" "good, good"? A freind said he was an idiot to me once. I told him "I'm pretty sure he could run your little forklift." Honestly I doubt many among us could handle that mans job. I'm pretty sure they dont let retards fly fighters.

Big Ruger...

I'm pretty sure they dont let retards fly fighters.

They do if daddy has lots of money and connections!!:D :D :D

P.S: It's one thing to fly the fighters it's another thing to be allowed to fight with them. Maybe the military was letting him fly in the reserves just so he wouldn't bomb the wrong targets if he was sent off to Vietnam!!:D :D :D (Just poking some fun, this isn't a really valid post.)

I just love it how a thread topic can be about X, but somehow, someway, someone will come in and relate it to Y and begin to bash Y... Completely oblivious to the fact that Y is in no way implicated with the topic X.

It's called thread drift. This one has drifted far enough. :barf:
