Hello all, I just got a great deal on a Henry lever action .22 model H001. I just want to see the round counts that are out there and the reliability issues (if any). I also got a marlin model 39A, but I know from reading past threads that it will be a great gun for my little brother.

Thanks in advance for the replies.

Do people really keep track of the rounds through there 22's? I would bet most go down due to lack of or improper cleaning. How much was she??

I couldn't even give you a count of how many bricks have gone through my Golden Boy. No reliability issues at all. You put good cartridges in it and empty cases come out.

I paid a little under 300$ for it. walmart is doing a year-round layaway on their guns and furniture right now. I put a golden boy 357 in there also haha

sorry, I forgot to add that Wal-Mart will let you put a gun in layaway for 2 months all year round. I didn't mean to make it sound like you could put it into layaway for a year.

Henry folks swear by them, I can tell you that.

Take good care of your Marlin, your little brother will have grandchildren some day. Be sure and tell him that.

to be honest, I thought about keeping the marlin and then I thought to myself" nahhhh Henry" and when he gets off the bus at my house on this beautiful day, he will have a nice little surprise lol.

Never really tracked how many I have through my H001. Probably a few thousand. I can't ever remember having a blip with it.

About all I've ever done is run a bore-snake down the barrel before I lock it up.

I bought mine used for $225 so there's no telling.

While the gun is a lot of fun, I'm not thrilled with having to tear it completely down to clear a jam.

I bought my girlfriend one for Christmas. I paid 275 at walmart. Thats a hell of a deal and i have to admit its a great little 22. Needs a dab of white paint on the front sight post however.

I've never understood layaway. Why not just save the money in a drawer then go pay cash after two months?

Anyways, Chris, what do you mean tear it the whole way down to clear a jam?

I had one jam out of a 300 round box so it does fairly well. I don't like how I have to tear it down to clear it either. and the thing with layaway is for people like me who don't want to be taking money out of our accounts just to pay for a gun can go deposit however much the desire on the guns. what I don't get is how you turn a simple gun question into a complaint.

and you wouldn't really have to tear the gun down to clear a jam, you could get it out through the ejection port if you dont care to pre-maturely wear off the paint around the ejection port.

Word of advise...keep the 10/22 and save up. You may miss that gun in the future. They are fantastic platforms to build on and try new configurations. Even if not now but maybe in a year or so. Tastes change especially in guns. I think most all people in gun culture have gone through all types of shooting styles and weapon types. Its like differents kinds of music. Just a thought...

Great little rifle. I use it to help teach basic rifle marksmanship to youngsters and women alike. They all love the compact size and easy operation and it's a natural step up from a single shot. Much safer than my semi-autos for new shooters and many love the 'old west' feel of it. Cheap, smooth action, and you can customize it for a little variety. Mine has well over 10K rds through it and it's still surprisingly accurate on our plates even out to 200yds . . . as long as there is zero wind. ;)
