I am so sick of it...

Hehe. I forgot we both got to experience that POS. I remember replacing a spring in it with the one from a ballpoint pen. Ehhh, it kinda worked sometimes I guess.

Hey playboy if it makes you feel any better, my first handgun was a junker. It's a S&W 629 Classic .44 Mag with a 6.5" barrel. Complete hunk-a-junk. My first rifle was a Yugo SKS. 2nd was a Mauser. Why can't I have nice things.... :D

I get the joke. Nevertheless, some of us were far past the point of being "kids" when we bought our first handgun, so there was no reason to go "cheap." On the other hand, my purchases are utilitarian, so I look for value, not collectability. So my first handgun (which I still have) was Browning Buckmark Plus--neither a "cheap" nor "exclusive" purchase. And I've been happy with it ever since!

I had a 25auto as my first pistol...then a jennings 22....Finally I hit the big time and bought a P89:rolleyes:

My first non "sd" pistol was a ruger blackhawk 44.

OK, I skipped the "piece of junk" phase; my first was a Taurus 85 black steel (well, maybe the Taurus haters won't agree with my definition of junk) ... got it 15 or so years ago, still have it tucked in my glovebox ...

Hey bikerbill, Keep a eye on that old Taurus 85. Way back then Taurus built them of evaporative steel. Once it looses 17% of it's original weight it's no longer safe to shoot. ;)

The OP would be ticked off at me.. My first handgun was a 8" Colt Python in Royal Blue that I bought off my uncle for $450 back when I was 19yo. ...which included dies, belt, and custom made holster.

Have since traded it back to him. ...loved the gun, but I wanted somethings that I could shoot all the time without worries of scratching them.

I don't read posts that don't look interesting to me. Isn't that so for just about everyone? When people express their newness to guns and the shooting sports and are excited, good for them!

From what I have read of these 'my first gun' stories, it seems a lot of those buying a high dollar first guns have shot guns belonging to friends and family and done their homework. What's wrong with that?

Zombies!!

I love it!

I tell my wife the same thing when she asks me why I need more guns!

" You'll thank me when the zombies get here. Or the giant ants. I dread giant ants."

Havent got anything for em but the 35 Welan Springfield:D (Hope its enough)

First Gun

My first gun was a 94 Winchester in 30-30. Many Montana deer fell to that little rifle. Along with countless squirrls, grouse, and blood-thirsty savages that were cleverly diguised as coffee cans.

Most recently I was given the previously mentioned 03 Springfield that my step-dad customized with synthetic stock, mercury recoil reducer, and Boss compensator. My pride and joy! (and ant gun)

I have had the gambut of Glocks, Rugers, and S&W's and have come to the conclusion that each of them has been my " favorite" for a while before the newest "cutie" caught my eye. ( some are trembling as we speak because of a Cimmeron .357 with birdhead handle covered with rosewood grips)

But my first gun, that 30-30, was beat up when I got it. Was a thing of beauty when I shot it. And I never have Forgot it.

PBP, next year when I buy my first handgun(s), they are (right now im thinking) p220 elite stainless, smith 686+ and SIG p238. I dont think hipoint/lorcin/jenning/raven/bryco crosses my mind at all.

Well, all I can say is that these young punks think they can get a good gun by simply going to the "gun store". It is all meaningless and unimpressive unless your first gun was something you made with your own hands in your own shop. In my family, and countless thousands of others, if you wanted a gun, you got your butt out to the shop and made yourself one. And, in the process, you developed a lifetime of knowledge about the inner workings of a gun, how to maintain it, how to repair anything on it, etc. Where are those dang smiley things?

I have an amateur radio license and for Heaven's sake, you don't get taken seriously in that hobby unless your first radio was something you made yourself from spare parts from your grandfather's old television. If you actually BOUGHT the darn thing, wow, forget it. You're finished in that hobby! May as well sell your ham radio gear and buy a SW Model 19.

My first handgun...

My first firearm was a S&W 28 bought new in 1972. My second was a Ruger Service Six which I still have. The third was a S&W 29.

I worked at a shop which sold RG's. Guess that's why I decided to start a few notches higher.
