I am about to tell the truth...

Jim (Thunder), thank you for that apology, even though I didn't single out anyone in specific.

I'm a nam vet. USMC, all the way. Got my CAR, turned down a heart (longish story), and I understand your stance. Still, and all, I think it best to refuse to let others punch my buttons (and it does happen)!

Powderman, please let your son know that there are others who appreciate what he has done for our country.

Marano? Your opinion is yours. But that doesn't make it Truth. It just makes it your opinion.

John Kerry is not any kind of hero in my eyes. Not after he went before Congress and virtually accused all nam vets of heinous crimes. Not after he went to Paris and (unlawfully) talked with our enemies (And Fonda is the same in my eyes).

Dan Rather was an incompetent journalist who let his personal interests override his journalistic sense.

But those are just my opinions, and like yours, are probably not the complete truth.

Maybe so, but I've got a feeling that common sense and most right thinking people will be backing your horse.

Just got back online. Came back here after some careful thought...

I believed I needed to respond and give where my viewpoint was formed when I was taken as being a "blind patriotic attitude without education". I stand by my statement.

However, to say that marano has no ground was out of line. I do apologize for that remark. My meaning was to attack the opinion, not the person. I appreciate those of you the reminder of thinking twice, post once.

I mean no disrespect to anyone who has served if my statements have offended you. I do believe in the 1st amendment, but not at the expense of disrespecting those who served...

Marano,

I do have strong differences of opinion, but most others have stated what I agree with and feel no need to reiterate at this time.

It would be preferrable, of course, if politicians were personally committed to RKBA.

The next best thing, however, is their voting pro-RKBA because of their perceived constituencies or party platform. What is important in the here and now is who is voting for us and who is voting against us. In the last few years it's been the Republicans who have been voting for us, overwhelmingly, compared to the Democrats.

You can look it up.

I have read many good post here....

Knowing how I feel about guns and how most people who are gunners feel about the state of the world I am not surprised or offended by any of the responses on here. I know what I said in the original post and what I did not say. Anytime you post on the internet you are gonna get people who respond to what they think you said or to thier interpretation of your meaning and I expect that. In my original post all I said was that people seem to give the Republican party more of a pass on the gun issue...and I guess that in my opinion is true. I find that a lot of gun enthusiast identify themselves as conservatives. I myself am a career law enforcement officer and am conservative on some issues I guess. I however can not agree with what a lot of people consider good conservative thinking or as one poster put it right thinking. I feel very strongly that a majority of the republican party represents the top 2% of OUR country and that they will say and do whatever they have to to get the vote of as much of the other 98% as they can. They do this by picking issues that they feel will resonate with as much of that 98% and trying to appear to be on thier side....regardless of whether or not they give a rats ass about the issue to begin with...gay rights for example. They Know that CONSERVATIVE people are generally opposed to gay people being treated the same as everybody else and whether or not it happens to affect them personally whether or not the guys down the street are gay it makes them feel better to oppose them having the same rights as they do...therefore the republicans...many more of whom especially here lately have proven that their talk is just that pretend that they oppose gay rights because they are telling as many RIGHT THINKING people what they want to hear as possible....nevermind that they might be emailing underage pages about the size of their johnson, or GOD forbid a RIGHT THINKING TELEVANGELIST who spoke regulary with the President was getting Massasges from a HOMOSEXUAL. Well my point is that it is the same with them with our gun rights...they claim to be on our side but do you think they really want us to have guns...after all we are the other 98%....our laws are after all designed to protect that 2% from the rest of us...especially now that the 2% percent mostly own our government and exclusively own the media where most us...(not me) get our news. So no I am not offended by anyones post nor should you be by mine. I am sure that most of the people on here are good people that I would probably like in person...we would probably just have to talk about guns or girls or cars or something besides what your willing to believe and what I do believe.

I think that you sir are confused. In my experience it is that Democrats that will say ANYTHING to get elected. Were you in a coma during the last Presidential election? The man that you talked up-John Kerry-would say one thing to one group of people and then say the exact opposite to a different group, often in the same week, if not day. C'mon the guy posed with PRE-SHOT birds to buddy up to hunters. How fake can you be while trying to please the so-called 98%? At least Cheney tried to shoot them himself!

How about Pelosi using her positon in MILCON to funnel millions in government contracts to her husbands construction companies. All the while Walter Reid(which is overseen by MILCON) rotted. If you honestly think that big buisness is not in bed with both parties you are crazy. You are doubly so if you honestly think that the country could function as well without that neccesary evil.

As for your shot at Foley-and by extension the Republican party-have you ever heard of Gerry Studds? Google it if you have not. He went further than Foley(not that that makes ANYTHING right, both should be in prison). Looks like power corrupts on both sides of the aisle.

rh...

you need rx...and luckily for you Corporate America is happy to oblige, watch any of the major networks or cable or satellite for that matter for an hour and I am sure you will know exactly which meds to ask your Dr. is right for you and exactly what to tell him is the problem. Do not worry that these people (pharm. co's') are made up of the 2% I have already talked to you about or that they pay the same T.V. channels salaries or that these T.V. channels and their coverage of the news and politicians is slightly, heh, heh towards candidates that are willing to bend over backwards so that these hard working people with all the money can make you life better....you so don't get the picture...hey go shoot a gun or something, maybe watch raslin as they call it down here in Alabama...I know go to church and pray for the President, support the troops, burn a Muslim, watch some Nascar, attend a Klan Rally, a Pro Life Rally, piss on a homeless vet, or go up to Walter Reed and tell em to quit whining and get back in the fight....just do something constructive and quit being a waste of flesh and blood.

You sir are out of line! Just because I am a Republican does not make me the stereotypical redneck you make me out to be. Besides I thought that it was Republicans that made stereotypes?

I just do not know what to say to you. I present facts and you present hatefull stereotypes. You are so full of hate that you can not make your point rationaly. I don't expect to see you around. This flesh and blood is sick of your irrational hate.

I'd bet my last dollar that the above comments are 100% accurate. Except the last 5 words.:p

Dan Rather was the one who broke the story of President Bush going AWOL and a list of other chargers that turned out to have no proof. When if was discovered that the facts were never checked(perhaps because Rather wanted to scoop everyone, perhaps because of personal bias) he was raked over the coals for shoddy journalism.

Gentlemen,

After reading marano's last post, I'd like to ask of others to read my signature line. It says it all, I believe. I'm off to read other topics that actually feed my brain with good info that are well meaning by other members of this forum....

Here, we have a classic case of 3-day-old red herrings rotting under Arizona sun. You're not really talking about gun control, you just hate Republicans. So start a thread about why you think Republicans suck. Don't try to disguise it, in order to appeal to us.

2nd Amendment- Read the second amendment MILITIA, thats not you, thats me.

Oooh. You just lost a whole lotta credibility there, sir. I don't know which is worse - the ignorance, or the elitism.

Your message is a continuing loop of logical fallacies. You, as messenger, have not only told most of us that we haven't "earned" the right to our firearms ownership, but you've also claimed that you're better than us. You opened the door for personal attacks. Don't be surprised to get quite a few of them coming your way.

I might be out of line

Its about time I got that way. I am tired of the friggin bull put down by the Bill O'Reilly wannabes of the world. Through posting on this subject. I tried to be a personalble guy a couple of posts back. As Jack Nicholson said "YOU CAN'T HANDLE THE TRUTH."

You posted socalist talking points as the truth but when I refuted with actual truth you flipped out like a child. I would hate to be a citizen within your juristiction.
