How would your LEO react?

I'm full-time LE, and I would've handled your situation the same way. I'll say it again: I worry a lot more about the street punk with the stolen .380 in his waistband. The good folks that went through the hassle and red tape to get their CCW are almost guaranteed to NOT be a threat to me or my co-workers; if anything, they're more likely to help me out of a tight spot if need be.

mesa pd i would almost expect to be pulled over. they harassed my brother for open carrying. he went into taco bell to eat and was told he should get his ccw, hes gonna scare people with it showing.:p

ive never had had one issue with mcso or highway patrol.got stopped on my way back from roosevelt lake for speeding, when asked for my license i informed him i had a pistol on my side. i was told not a problem and he carried about his business.

City cops back home, depending on the officer, may or may not hassle you a bit, nothing too bad, just ascertaining that you were permitted to carry.

County Mounties would hardly bat an eye.

You were going to WALK 80 miles?

And you were purposefully not attempting to get a ride because you were carrying?

The walk was 80 miles at least, I think I made it about 9 before he stopped me.
You guys don't walk 80 miles on a regular basis?:)
The thumb would have eventually flipped out there, or the cell phone. Ended up costing me 3000 bux for a remanufactured Jasper plus installation plus towing.....hence a contemplative cool down walk while cursing and juggling figures.:)

Open carry in Oregon is no sweat. LEO doesn't care ( I assume they notice), even when I visit the big city. Portland, Salem and some other towns forbid open carry, unless a person has a CHL - LEO never says nuthin'. I open carry when I ride my Sportster (handgun just isnt easy to get at under leather) and LEO never asks no questions.

I am saddened by the infringements many of Us live under.

btw: can a locality make laws that violate the Second? Can a locality make laws that violate the 14th? Seems the same answer should apply to both questions.

I am sure a complaint would come in about me harrassing a concealed permit holder.

Speaking as a person who has had both poor and very good encounters with the law on the issue, I can say that a polite "your gun is poking out" wouldn't bother me at all.

That same scenerio with me here in Maryland would result in a YouTube video posting of me in the fetal postion screaming "can't we all just get along?". :D

EVERYTHING is good until you run into a LEO like the one in CANTON ,Ohio. He screamed and cursed at a CCW holder and even threaten to kill him for 17 minutes.POOR guy had just gotten his CCW and I believe he was scared ,he tried to tell the LEO he was a permit holder but was told repeatedly to X X X X.<< I did this xin U fill in the blanks.
Fortunately for us HE'S BEEN FIRED.
I cant find the video but you possibly could find it at Ohioans for Conceal Carry. IT was dash-cam taken from the AH's own crusier.
I did direct the attention of our local count sheriff and police dept cheif to view the video and make sure we dont hire anyone like this AH.

itc444, I live in Pinal County, and would be very surprised if that happened here, all the PCSO I have met have been top notch officers. Also, if a rogue PCSO officer tried something that in a Constitutional Carry state with no probable cause he/she would open the Dept to huge lawsuits. Here in AZ open carry and concealed carry is legal without a permit.

the "sherrif" seems to be pretty relaxed about guns, i wouldnt put it past mesa pd however to go overboard on a law abiding citizen carrying a gun. they have a few out of control officers on board.

I've never had an officer mention my intentionally open carried gun, so I doubt they'd bother to bring up one accidently exposed.

Once several years ago when I was working as a cable contractor I ended up having a throny tree branch tear off over half of my shirt. It left my gun and holster showing. I was working a couple of blocks from the county jail at the time too. (1911 in a Cross Breed Super Tuck.)

One of the SO's saw me. He let me know that I was bleeding, and saw the gun. I told him I have a CHL, and asked if he wanted to see it. He declined. He stated the holster gave away that I had a CHL. Few if any criminals will use a holster. They do not want anything that ties them to the gun if they have to ditch it.

He walked close to my side to cover me so I could get a fresh shirt in my truck. He also stated that he wished they would let him carry his personal 1911 as a duty weapon.

Unlike TX, the Deputy would probably look at a fully exposed pistol here in WA, and say nothing. (Unless he specifically likes what you are carrying) If it is warm enough to ride a motorcycle, it is warm enough to OC here.

Open carry is not on the books as illegal in OK but you WILL be talked to about OC. It's in a goofy state of limbo right now. There is legislation to allow OC but it would still require a CCW permit. So, in OK, you would have been pulled over and cited for who knows what, brandishing perhaps.

Kentucky.

OC is legal.
You CCDW is tied to your tag so he already knows your licensed.

He would ask what I was caring and complain they are making them carry a Glock. The probably ask me if I saw the last UK game.
