Once AGAIN, it's not their communications devices.

It's the PROXIMITY OF THE COUNTRY THEY ARE COMING FROM (Mexico bordering USA).

And for EVERYONE who is sympathetic towards the illegal aliens streaming across our southern border, I have a question.

How many illegal aliens does the USA have to absorb until EVEN YOU think it's too many?

50 million?

100 million?

300 MILLION ? (current census count of ALL US CITIZENS)

600 million?

Estimates currently range from between 10 million to 30 million ILLEGAL ALIENS (read MEXICANS) that are in this country right now. Add to that the 5 million Clinton pardoned and the 3 million that Reagan pardoned and YOU CAN SEE WHERE THIS IS GOING, RIGHT?

Or perhaps those of you out there sympathetic to the crush of ILLEGAL ALIENS think we need a change of ownership in this country (from white to mexican). Because if we allow 50/100/300 million illegals into this country, we simply become a province of Mexico.

I have an old adage that is a take off from another old adage.

"You can't see the handwriting on the wall". Everyone knows what that means, RIGHT?

My adage is "Wall, WHAT WALL?" Not only can most people NOT see the handwriting ON THE WALL, but they don't even see the wall AT ALL. Shortly after that, said wall falls and crushes them.

Maybe I'll just sneak across our northern border and become an ILLEGAL ALIEN in Canada. I hear they have a great socialistic medical system...

Aaahh, but LAK you included newspapers, radio stations and magazines in the other post. I don't know of any broadcast TV stations that are totally dedicated, but there are plenty of them on cable

Aaaah, indeed. One can find plenty of foreign publications for sale in every country on the globe - and on cable or satellite TV in a hundred languages no doubt. But I am talking about what is exclusively in Spanish; in almost every supermarket rack, bank lobby, gas station, hospitals and other commercial premises - police station and other public institutional facilities and publications.

But no French, Danish, Belgium or Lithuanian material on billboards or in Post Offices.

Here in Texas there are about as many local TV channels broadcasting exclusively in Spanish catering to Mexican culture, entertainment and news as there are in English. Same can be said for radio.

So how come no Dutch, German, French, Greek, Moldovian, etc at all? Why is it that when I call the bank I am asked, "For English ... press one" and must listen to a recording in Spanish before I can proceed with my business? Why is there not a "For Italian .... press three. For German ... press four ... " and similar recordings for all of those foreign language speakers?

Oh yes, we all know about the proliferations of Chinatowns - and you are probably also familiar with my opinion of importing things from China.

How many exclusively Swedish, Danish, Finnish, Norwegian, Yugoslavian, Austrian, German, Dutch, French, Belgium, Polish, Greek, Italian, Portuguese, Czechoslovakian, Hungarian, Bulgarian, Romanian, Ukranian, Latvian, Lithuanian, Estonian, Belarusian, Moldovian language locally broadcast TV stations are there in south Louisiana, Minnesota and the Dakotas? How about radio stations?

When you call your local banking numbers in these states how many languages are on the menu? How many - which languages - are on the signs and literature in your bank lobbies? Hospitals? Police stations?

Any Italian? Austrian? Finnish? Portuguese?

Actually, I was refering to domesticaly produced media such as Hebrew newspapers, Cajun radio stations, publications in Greek, locally produced cable shows in America by "place an ethnicity here", etc.. But the more you clarify your position, the less I find fault with. :)

One of the reasons there is so many panderings to the Spanish speaking people here is that there is a market or a need for it because of the large numbers present. Before you say "exaclty!!!!!", let me point out that if we had a similar culture today, had the same media technology and recognised the fact that the non English speakers were consumers, then we would have had the same thing occur in the 19th century. We would hear Galic spoken on the phone menu in 1840. (In my opinion, of course.)

I just think that this is a phase and things will reach more of a balance when the children grow up speaking English. Of course this is only if the illegal immigration doesn't continue unnabated.

We shouldn't punish the Spanish speaking peoples that have been here for a hundred and sixty years and we shouldn't punish the legal immigrants and accept them with open arms. But I agree with you that we should not pander to the illegal immigrants and hand our culture over to a bunch of law breakers that don't give a tinkers damn about our nation (at least most of them don't).
 
If people want to imigrate here and be productive citizens I have no problem with it....a lot of foriegn countries make thier students master two languages in school. Hispanic citizens have been in Texas since it existed as a Republic and other southwest states and California also. They have served to protect this country. I served with in the military a fellow from South America whose family moved here to a better place they could live without persecution. Now even as I write this there are folks who have died while serving in our armed forces who were not originally citizens who have died in Iraq.

There are some who cross the border just for the benefits....those are the ones that need to be stopped.

Fresh blood hungry for freedom and hard work is a good thing... Sometimes we get a little to sated with the things we have

a deployment overseas let me get a new perspective on things...

sometimes allowing people in we get the best of both worlds......

SO, how about taking a whack at THAT ONE instead of your mindless drivel arguing over whether the US is being inudated by the country on our southern border.

And why hasn't ANYONE MENTIONED that the numbers have become HUGE since GWB has come into office? More than triple Reagans two terms and more than twice Clintons two terms. And if SOME reports are to be believed, we have in excess of 30 million illegals in this country RIGHT NOW.

I think if an illegal alien/immigrant is caught he should be sent back to where he came from.....

I dont think a province of Mexico is going to happen anytime soon... They left Mexico for a reason. I dont think that reason is because they enlisted in some kind of secret revolutionary army to reconqer part of the United States and return it to Mexico. They want a better life than they had in Mexico..if a war did break out they would probably be the first ones to help stop it because they dont want to return to that way of life. Some of these folks would give anything to have the chance to be a US Citizen... hell righ now we have Mexican and other foriegn Aliens serving in the US Army in Iraq who have been wounded or died to gain citizenship. While we have US citizens who will not serve.

Yeh I know there are some groups who strive for that.......but history has been full of them.

I think this debate has swerved down the path of "us and them". IMHO the destruction of America will come at the hands of it's most poular activity. Capitalism. It is impossible to separate America from capitalism. They are co-dependant. I am just reading a weighty tome entitled "Howard Hughes, his Life and his Madness". I can find no better example of a capitalist American. Here's a man who bought political influence, bought military influence and invented a hokey charity to avoid paying millions of dollars in state taxes. To achieve this end, he lent money to the Nixon family.

Like every capitalist American, his primary God was the dollar. Even a man as rich as him sought to deprive his country of the taxes that every other working citizen had to pay. Greedy bastard wasn't he?! I will wait for the shrill cry now of "but he created jobs which fed peoples familys and gave people purpose!!". Maybe so but he didn't want to pay the same taxes as them.

I would venture that the flood of Mexicans coming across your border are tolerated because they'll take the minimum wage jobs, lots of them, and not complain or unionize or bleat about conditions. Without doubt, they're the new slaves. America built a huge pile of wealth on the backs of slaves and this is the modern substitute. Too bad if there are social problems, thats for the sucker taxpayers to deal with. The communities containing the leaders of capitalism wont be having any problems.

Anyway, within the next fifteen years were going to see an oil drought that will make every other problem pale into insignificance. Maybe Mexican peasants who can grow vegetables and improvise with metal and wood will come in handy :)

I think you have it, greed will kill us. While there is nothing wrong with
profit everything need balance and we "appear " to be losing that, call
it fairness, common sense, etc, the idea of maintaining America at any cost
is being lost to make a buck at the cost of America. :(

NC - it JUST HAPPENS that we have ONLY TWO COUNTRIES on our borders, unlike MOST nations in this world. Would you feel any better if the 'race' taking us over by flooding our borders with MILLIONS OF POOR PEOPLE WITH NO SKILLS WERE CANADIAN? I doubt it. Again, it has NOTHING TO DO WITH RACE and everything to do with our country being flooded with MILLIONS of illegal immigrants that JUST HAPPEN TO BE MEXICAN and don't you find it ODD that the Mexican government, INSTEAD OF SOLVING THEIR PROBLEMS THAT KEEP THE MAJORITY OF THEIR POPULACE IN POVERTY - recommend they cross OUR BORDERS for 'a better life'. WHY DON'T THEY AT LEAST ATTEMPT to fix the problems in THEIR OWN COUNTRY instead of putting us AWASH in all those 'poor, tired, huddled masses yearning to be free', cause believe me that freedom is at the BOTTOM of the list for those invading this country.

It was meant for people like you and I who have worked hard and put into this system OUR WHOLE LIVES, now only to see it sink into the sunset BECAUSE it is being overrun by those who put nothing into it, but want something out of it. Call that RACIST if you want, I CALL IT ECONOMIC PIRACY BY THE MEXICAN GOVERNMENT. They don't want to 'take care' of their own citizens, so they 'suggest' they find a better life HERE?

If that does NOT make any sense to you, then perhaps a LONG CHAT with those who run the hospital system in ARIZONA might be in order. The hospital system in ARIZONA is so overrun with illegal immigrants who can't pay, that they are getting ready to turn you away if you either don't have insurance coverage OR the cash to pay for your visit. Or would you prefer to just see all those hospitals go belly up, causing ALL the citizens in Arizona to NOT have health care? Because THAT'S WHAT'S HAPPENING RIGHT NOW IN ARIZONA!

And Arizona is but the begining. New Mexico, Nevada, California, Texas, Florida and lots of other states have ALREADY started to feel the pinch ECONOMICALLY that 25 million illegals put on our system. Wake up and smell the coffee pot ON FIRE.

I have WAY TO MANY Brazilian born relatives living in Miami who CONSTANTLY COMPLAIN that they came here to 'get away' from the 'Latin' governmental system. THEY WANTED and became US citizens, NOT by sneeking across our border, but by applying legally, waiting their turn and THEN came to the US. THEY like living in Miami and NORMALLY have very little to complain about. But when this 'Alcalde' statement came out, they were FURIOUS.
