How much gear do you wear for the day?

Glock 26 (9mm), with 10+1 rounds of Hydra-Shoks
sometimes a backup mag with 10 in, sometimes not.
wallet
Benchmade Griptilian
if I'm going to be out after dark, an Inova flashlight
tube of chapstick
inhaler
cell phone
keychain has a Monadnock Persuader on it, and (my favorite!) a Photon MicroLight

I don't bother with a purse, 95% of the time, though there's usually one in my car with various medications I might need.

Boy, am I out of place here! Not only do I not have a concealed carry permit, I don't even carry a gun, even though I live in a county that does issue permits.

On my person I carry keys (two each on one key ring). Nothing else. No watch, no cell phone, no belt knife, no multi-tool. But in my schnitzel bag I have a folding knife from Buck and another pocket knife with gadgets, ex-German army, also one flashlight and one pair of gloves in cold weather. When I wear boots to work I also have an extra pair of socks. I also carry my wallet (but hardly any money) and my lunch.

In my car, which I drive 20 miles to work one way, plus a TRIP TO THE BANK EVERY DAY, I carry multi-tool, so far never used on the car, a pair of jumper cables and extra radiator coolant, because it leaks when I use the heater. The car is a Ford Escort station wagon with 180,000). On my daily trip to the bank I always go inside because I want everyone there to know me and I want to know all of them, where they are from (India, Chile, etc) and how many kids they have.

At home I keep most of my rifles in my closet behind my mackinaw because things rust too quickly in the basement. At the moment there are four there. And somewhere around the house are my handguns. There are ammo cans with, well, ammunition stacked around the basement for guns that I do have and guns that I don't happen to have at the moment (you never know).

Of all the guns I've had that I thought would be a good carry gun (for concealed carry), I liked the Colt (lightweight) Commander in .45 ACP the best. If I were carrying openly, say in the woods, I liked the Colt 1911 in .38 Super or the same thing from Springfield Armory, which was almost just as good.

You know, when it comes to extra magazines, some people pick a high capacity just so they won't need to carry an extra magazine.

I carry a taurus 605, a mini-maglite, and a gerber 3.5" lockblade. This is my usual "office wear"...if I'm not in office clothes I alter the gear to the situation.

My trusty butter knife, a corkscrew and my old school rubber band gun cocked and locked :p . But seriously, I carry my Colt Commander fully loaded, cocked and locked. Sometimes an extra mag, sometimes not, and my Kershaw Ken Onion when I think to grab it. I'm 5'6" and anymore than that is just a plain ol' burden for me in my everyday goings on.

Daily:

Glock 19 with one spare mag. 12 rounds of Magtech FMJ's in both magazines. So total of 24 rounds.
Spyderco Delica knife
Leathman Micra

If something is expected then two spare mags more.

Magtech huh? Must be nice to be rich :p . I thought about buying some of that stuff, but didn't feel like taking out a second mortgage on the house to fill all my magazines  . I hear that stuff hits like a freight train though and is worth every penny if you can afford it. If you ever do any testing of it I'd like like to know what you come up with, but at the cost of that stuff I imagine you won't be shooting it at anything but perps. Actually I'm thinking of the jhp's. Maybe the fmj's are more reasonable?

Well, the Magtech FMJ ammo is at same price level as other 9x19 mm ammo. It is high quality ammo and penetration is nice as it doesn't expand. I haven't done any official testing but it will go through 3 phone books :)

Ever think of what you might hit once it passes through the first two people?

Penetration is important, but over doing it is dangerous.

Yeah well I don't used fmj's for anything but the range anyway. I use jhp's on duty and for concealed carry. I'm quite aware of over penatration problems. I also carry a .45 now which moves a bit slower that a 9mm anyway as I'm sure your aware of. The magtech stuff sounds like fun for the range though :D .

One "small" problem on using JHPs for me is that under local laws those are forbidden in pistol calibers. So everyone in here uses FMJs even for self defence.

I'm a gear lover. I love to have little useful items on or around me all the time.

I sleep and shower with a CRKT Neck Peck knife on a neck lanyard. Attached to its sheath is a Photon Microlight (white LED). I keep my GLOCK 27 with me all the time too, in a pouch with my Canon digital camera. In my pockets I have a Leatherman Squirt (the blue one, I forgot the model #); a Zippo lighter; one or two four-foot lengths of 550 paracord; a Spyderco Military; a Benchmade Mini Griptilian; a large,double-ended Sharpie black marker with chisel or point tip; on my belt is my cellular phone (with me all the time) and an Inova T2 2 watt LED flashlight. My keychain is a kubotan, and on it is a P-38 can opener, a handcuff key, other keys for various locks and cars, and three Photon Microlights (red, white and blue LEDs).

In my knapsack, which always gets thrown into my car when I go out, are a bunch more items, like an extra flashlight,;my Leatherman Wave; my Benchmade Blue Box (a mini tool kit for adjusting various pocket knives); antibacterial hand lotion; a deck of cards; a couple more Sharpie markers (blue and red); a pair of tweezers; a bottle of water; a couple of golf discs; spare pair of glasses; bottle of Advil; some reading material; some candy; Altoids; a small fixed blade knife (Timberline Mini Pit Bull).

Other various odds and ends as the mood strikes me.

Depends on if it's work or personal time. Work time, I've got Firestorm(Bersa) .380 in a Galco tuckable IWB. If it's my time, it's an XD40 in a Galco SkyOPs (also tuckable). I'm in real estate sales, so I have both in my truck and adjust to the situation. In the office, it's my Firestorm (no need for the others to know I carry and there is less chance of inadvertant printing to invite questions). Out in the field, it depends on the situation--if it's the least bit sketchy, then the XD40 (just blouse the shirt more). Always in my right rear pocket is the Spyderco (I carry my moneyclip/ID/credit card thing in my right front pocket). Everpresent is the infernal cell phone. Then there is the keychain. That's all I have on my person (ok, cigarettes, lighter and lotsa gum), but that's all. In my truck/SUV, ok, Avalanche, I carry enough for almost any situation. I was never a Boy Scout, but their motto always stuck with me.
