How much ammo do you carry daily

How much do you really carry on a daily basis .Out the door .I have at least one reload mag for my autos or speedloader for revolvers. OVER KILL OR NOT ENOUGH ?

If I'm carrying the:

Ruger SP101: 5rds
Ruger LCP: 7rds
Bersa Thunder: 8rds
HK USPc: 14rds

I don't carry an extra mag or speedloader.

I generally carry a SIG P229 and just go with the 16 rounds in the weapon. I have a hand full of guns that I sometimes carry and usually just go with what the weapon holds. The only exception is if I go with my J-Frame I occasionally carry a speed loader.

1 extra mag. 16 total 45acp rounds. If I need that many someone is going to the morgue

Do you carry the extra mag more for the extra rounds or for a potential malfunction?

I am considering carrying an extra mag, more for the failure aspect.

Pistols & revolvers...

With either duty or concealed use, I'd pack at least 1 pistol magazine or with a revolver; 2 speed loaders or Bianchi speed strips(6 rds).
Author & tactics instructor; Massad Ayoob teaches students to only load 5 .38/.357 rounds in the Bianchi strip and hold it like a scalpel but I load the full 6 rounds even for a 5 shot snub or SP101 type revolver.
18 rounds of .38spl +P/.357magnum or 30-34 rounds of 9x19mm or .40 should protect you.

Any CC license holder or armed professional should always have at least 1 spare pistol magazine. The main magazine could break or run out then you'd be in a real fix. :(
A few armed security officers & sworn LE officers in my area wear the newer 3 magazine holders in the slim line style(sticking out from the duty belt not flat).

The X-grip add-on is worth using too. It adds 3/5 extra rounds to a seated magazine. I may buy a X-grip for my M&P full size 9x19mm.

I have had a C Carry licence for almost 4 decades years. Right now I just carry my COP Derringer no extra rounds. If I can't defend myself with that I would retreat before I'd have to use it. I am not the police and don't intend to play one and I don't have a lot of money to afford a lawyer either.

If I carry it is just what is in the cylinder. The times I have carried a semi (automatic...;)) it has been with the full clip.

That is it.

If I carry more often, and if I can find a speedloader to fit my snub, I may get one and carry it. Not a critically important purchase at this stage.

If I'm going to the village, . . . 1911, . . . 8+1, . . . 1 spare mag.

If I'm going into town, . . . 1911, . . . 8+1, . . . 2 spare mags.

If I'm going to the big city, . . . 1911, . . . 8+1, . . . 3 (maybe more) spare mags.

If I'm traveling, . . . full box of ammo with me too, . . . plus quick loader for mags.

Paranoid, . . . nahhhhh, . . . just prepared. Never met anyone yet who came back from a firefight and complained that from now on he's not taking so much ammo.

May God bless,
Dwight

I very seldom ever carry a reload any more. If I carry my 5 shot snub or my high capacity Glock, whatever fits in the gun is what I've got.

Usually my carry is loaded with a full mag +1 and then a spare mag on the opposite side. On the rare occasions I carry a revolver I also carry a speed strip.

Honestly, all BS aside, I don't carry extra ammunition unless I'm out in the deep woods. So it's either 5 .38spl+p JHP's or 8 .45acp JHP's. A little off topic but I always have a folding knife w/ 3" blade, a Leatherman, and a small LED keychain light with me as well.
