How Many...

i usaly have my AR in 458 scocom under my shirt on my back,an XD or glock 45 on each hip a 50 ae desert eagle in the small of my back a 9mm in my left boot a 380 on my right thigh and a 25 stuck up my a$$.

In the land of T-shirts, shorts and flip-flops CC can be a problem. The .25 ACP is with me always. The S&W 469 stays in the truck with a B/U mag. That's my common carry.

If I have to go to 'the cities' like Miami or Orlando I'll add in a detective special, Mini-14 and .243. The rifles may not be concealed but could prove to be useful, you have to be there.

Ok...Ok...Ok...
This has gone far enough... I did't wanna "go this route" but...
I've been in combat 3 times and never had on me more than 2. <----- Nuff Said.

That unlikely scenario, you admitted was unlikely, 'the deuce' is just that...unlikely. So much so that it's a "never-gonna-happen" scenario. From the sound of it you took out a battalion or two of "gang bangers" in their own neighborhood. Urban warfare doesn't go that smoothly for me and my Marine buddies, what makes you feel so confident? Definitly a case of too much movie watchin goin on here.

And what I can't understand... You say switching to your BUG is faster than reloading (debatable- but I'll go along for arguments sake) But what I don't get is... you carry spare mags for you second gun!?

"My wife was brutally raped. I have been Mugged 6 times.. I have been stabbed and I have been shot at COUNTLESS TIMES.. So maybe that is WHY i developed the need for 3 or more Firearms on me... Call me Crazy.. Call me Excessive"

not trying to make light of your situation. if you live in a hell hole like that with a wife and 3 daughters you need more than guns and ammo so i will pray for you as well. i know there are bad neighborhoods and dangerous areas in this country but i had no idea people lived in areas like you do by choice. if i had a wife and 3 daughters living in an area like that my first response would be to move to a safer place and i mean today, right now and at all costs. obviously you have the means to live in a safer area. there is no way i would allow my wife and daughters to live with that kind of danger even if i had to sell all my guns to do so.

Well I guess my post reflects the maximum, not the usual. The guns in the car are BUGs. The one in the pocket and in the bag are considered CCWs. The bag has checkbook and meds etc... which I carry if I am out of the house for more than an hour. These latter two are usually carried one or the other, but, may have both just because I did not take the time to leave one out of my accessory grab for an outing. My rationale is to assure there is a defensive firearm closeby if needed.

my first response would be to move to a safer place

There is no such thing as a safe place. Trouble can be anywhere. And bad people are everywhere.

there is no way i would allow my wife and daughters to live with that kind of danger even if i had to sell all my guns to do so.

Well, go sell all of your guns then, because there is the potential for danger everyday, no matter where they are, or where you live, or where they go to school, etc...

so i will pray for you as well.

Oh, well everything should be okay then. :D

There is no such thing as a safe place. Trouble can be anywhere. And bad people are everywhere.
for example...awhile back...in our small town of no crime where nothing happens.....an elderly male body was found,, in several pieces,,in a 55 gallon drum along the highway...... I will stick with the two 44s for now

while there may not be any such thing as a "safe" place, if you look back i said SAFER place. and certainly there must be safer places than where my wife would be brutaly raped, where i would be mugged 6 times, stabbed and shot at count less times.

i live in a middle class neighborhood in north phoenix and worked for 20 years in an industrial/residential area of south phoenix. in all those 20 years i have never been mugged, stabbed, or shot at. i read the papers, i carry a gun, i know these things can happen anywhere and anytime. they just have not happened to me or my family, or my friends, or my neighbors, or any person i have contact with. if they ever did happen to me or my family with the regularity of the poster i would be quickly be moving to a newer, better, safer place.

You guys are drivin me nuts... why do forums always go this way? Who cares where somebody lives?! That is not the point at hand!

The guys who said "sell your guns and move" meant it only by use the money to relocate or to not buy so many because "the deuce" has refernced his 11 guns, one he never even uses. Aperently money is not a problem for this guy. So there is no way he should insist on being exposed to it. Nobody said relocating means "no need to carry anymore". Obvious point.

This thread has/had potential to be informative and an good debate.

Ok, YES I have the means to be elsewhere.. I have STATED I .. LIVE !! In a safe area but where I have to commonly travel to is unsafe.. and like someone else said.. NO PLACE IS SAFE.

So what because I live near a dangerous area but not in it.. I have to SELL ALL MY GUNS pick up and move my business, my family, my kids and have them lose all their friends they have developed through their schools.. ALL BECAUSE I AM NEAR A NEIGHBORHOOD that is full of Murder??? Obviously you guys don't live ANYWHERE near the Outskirts of DC.

It is a HIGHLY dangerous area with multiple unsolved murders DAILY. In our NATION'S CAPITAL.

Not to mention, every other VIOLENT CRIME THERE IS. Where there is Poverty there is CRIME, AND During these troubling times especially CRIME RATE is escalating !!

To the Marine how commented.. Thank you for serving our Country You and all the rest of the Soldiers are the reason that I am so GLAD that I liive in America !!

Despite the elevated Crime rate, Despite the Poverty, Unemployment, despite EVERYTHING... I am still Happy which leaves my children Happy.

BUT !!

If you could have seen the Look on my daughters face as the P.O.S. Held me at knife point and as I handed over my wallet and he jabbed the blade into my stomach and went running off.. THEN MAYBE YOU WOULD UNDERSTAND WHY I FEEL THE NEED FOR 3 Firearms... She couldn't understand why SOMEONE would want to hurt her Daddy. She couldn't fathom in her small mind how and why this was happening. Terrified.

Unless you have had it happen to you, and you have been in that situation, I believe that there is NO GROUND TO STAND ON. You don't know the emotions, the fear, the thoughts of AM I DYING RIGHT THIS SECOND, or WILL I MAKE IT THROUGH OK and be ABLE TO WAKE up tomorrow morning to feed my Daughters breakfast.

3 Firearms is NOT as bad as it seems. Shoulder, HIP, Ankle.. What is SO wrong with that??

To top it all off, the person who said they will pray for me, I feel that was directed in a sarcastic manner, and I will NOT bring religion into but I am a Catholic, and believe very MUCH so in the Power of Prayer.. BUT i can say one thing.. when I was praying to GOD that that knife blade the perforated my abdomen didn't hit any vital organs as I sped as fast AS I COULD to the nearest Hospital bleeding all over the place, my daughter crying this cry NO FATHER SHOULD EVER HEAR.. I think I am within my GOD GIVEN AMERICAN CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHTS TO CARRY 3 FIREARMS to protect myself, and my family..

Where as I mentioned the unlikely scenario, yes Marine, urban warfare doesn't go that smoothly, especially for ONE INDIVIDUAL against NUMEROUS attackers, but I will say one thing. I am One Hell of a shot.. Probably JUST AS GOOD as any United States Marine. I have been shooting my WHOLE LIFE, And competitively shooting for 6 years.. That 6 years is MORE than MOST Marines or any Soldier spends in their selected Armed Forces.. It;s typically what a 4 year plan?? Of course some, not all, but some stay in for longer.. but You have to think out of those 4 years that a MARINE is serving.. if he does not Choose a combat job, HOW MANY HOURS A WEEK DOES HE SPEND AT THE RANGE? Of course he/she has to get qualified.. and has to be one hell of a marksmen.. but NOT ALL MARINES are a perfect Shot.. Not All Soldiers are.. It is a acquired skill from years and years of practice... You have a Marine that enters at the age of 18 spends 4 years in service and is Out.. while he is still a Marine, I feel that I am a way Better Marksmen then that soldier. BUT I AM NOT TRYING TO DISCREDIT ANY UNITED STATES SOLDIER. I love them ALL..and EVERYTHING THEY SACRIFICE for me and My family and for everyone else in this country. My wife and I regularly send Packages to the Soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan for all their hard work and sacrifices.. I have MANY MANY close friends who are there as I TYPE THIS.. But that does NOT mean that things dont happen on OUR home turf.. our situation HERE is overlooked.. More people were Murdered in the City of Detroit in the Last Month, then all of the Soldiers that LOST their lives overseas defending our country in the same month.

ON OUR OWN SOIL. And that is JUST ONE CITY... Multiply that by the total number of murders from EACH city/town in the US for Last month alone, and I am almost WILLING to bet... that those numbers are HIGHER than the total number of soldiers lives lost since the start of the War.

In our own COUNTRY. Our country.. This is why I carry 3 firearms, and if you consider this excessive or wrong.. To each their own. At least I feel safe now.

*** YES I KNOW I HAVE AN ISSUE WITH THE CAPS LOCK BUTTON, I AM WORKING ON IT***

99% of the time, just one with a spare mag. On rare occasions, I'll take 2 spare mags. Even rarer is two handguns.

anyway, the gun i am never without is my amt 380. it has lived either in my pocket, glove box or on my dresser for the last 25 years. if i ever have a second gun on my person it would be the little amt, often it is my only gun. lately when i carry a belt gun i have been using my taurus pt-145, 10+1 rounds of 45 and sometimes an extra magazine if i am traveling or know i'll be around a bad area. the other guns i have been known to carry are my springfield micro or champion in 45, my 9mm 469 s&w or sometimes my stainless 38 s&w or 357 rossie, both snubbies. i don't carry these together at the same time but i sometimes rotate them or change them up depending on my clothes or the weather. as you might see all my cc choices are smaller type guns plus these guns are proven to be dependable. i figure the smaller, lighter and more concealable the gun is the more likely i'll bring it and not leave it home. as for reloads, i have speedloaders and pouches for the revolvers and mags and belt pouches for the autos but i almost never carry them on me, they too spend most of their time in my glove box. if i think a reload might be necessary i usually put 1 speedloader or magazine in my pocket and that is enuff for me. anyway my theme is small, light and dependable or i might leave it at home.

sorry guys, a little lengthy but worth it.

Nobody is critizing or attacking you for carrying 3 guns. At least I'm not, I may poke fun at your logic behind it, but if you see my first post it warms me to see a man (American) who arms himself to the teeth... :D

What I want to focus on, and I mean really zoom in on, is the tactics of it all. You have all kinds of personal stories to tell us, but it doesn't address the issue. Maybe it's just me, but I feel like I'm failing to make the leap from, "high threat level" to a "BBUG"??? Help me understand! Why not two reliable guns and a million reloads? For cryin out loud, what is so flippin hard about answerin that question?! I've asked it several times now, and even asked why if you feel going for the BUG is quicker than a reload, why do you reload the BUG?!?! All you do is come back with these terrible stories that make me, the reader; a stranger to you feel terrable inside and grief for your poor daughter, family, and you. I don't like to hear that stuff and it doesn't prove your stance at all. You don't need to have tramatic experiences for your "right to carry" 3 or 4 guns. (By the way... Who can carry even 1 gun in DC?! I find that an odd fact in your story)
Anyway you don't need stories but what you should have is reason and logic to back up your stance to REALLY be protecting yourself and family to your utmost ability. And that brings me back to a reliable gun you trust your life to. (Because you can have 1000 guns on you and if they all fail you you're still gonna die. At some point you just trust the trigger you're pulling.) A main reliable 1st gun and a BUG! For that "one in a million" "what if" chance it fails or you become disarmed in a struggle. To claim you need several of these "what if guns" goes astronatical in numbers against the possability of being needed. And no amount of stories is going to convince me other wise. If that's all you have and you can't come up with logic to support your stance... well somebodies not being as safe as they can be are they??? One could make the argument you don't really belive your own stance if you don't know WHY you believe your own stance. Other than, a fear of a high treat level. Wouldn't a person with such a fear want to do the absolute best most proven method? I do! I'm either tryin to learn what you know and I don't, or help you out. My stance is extra ammo.

And for the record. Why such the long rant on shooting better than soldiers or Marines? What was the point of that? And why so long? It was full of hypotheticals again. Tell me again how long an enlistment is, came up and weather or not a person is a POG or not? Did I ever bring up a service member that has a desk job and compare them to your range skills? I brought up URBAN FIGHTING and of course Mr. Smarty pants would already know you can't have a desk job and do that kind of thing, can you? That was such a crazy tangent I Did, Laugh Out Loud. If ya wanna give yourself the Gold Medal on your shooting skills against me and my buddies...Fine, take it. I'll just tell you I have more experience on live humans.

I got my stories too, 10 days taking Fallujah. Never used more than my rifle and a BUG. Ohhh but, I relaoded many times. :D

Wow... I joined this place for my love of Firearms.. there was a QUESTION.. I ANSWERED IT...

Then I get criticized for my answer.. not just by you but by many.

I stated. I have ONE RELIABLE Firearm.. My Para*0 14-45... My Main Carry.

I have my S&W Sigma 9mm.. As a Hip Gun...

And a Kahr for an ankle gun.

Once again. Why is that considered excessive?? It's basically a BUG to a BUG.

I never said I LIVE in DC.. I live NEAR there.. and Travel there on Occasion.. it's the Outskirts of DC which are the Dangerous areas.. I actually Live in Maryland. Clinton. to be exact. I don't have a Desk Job. I own a Frame to Finish Carpentry Business.

I never once discredited Marines.. Or any other Soldier. In fact I said Thank You.

I just wanted to join a place, that had a love for firearms .. that is a place where people of the same interest get together.. And chat about GUNS.

I revealed details to my life because... I was called out on WHY I would feel the need for 3 carry Firearms.

Maybe it's just because I am partial to ALL my Guns, and Like having them all..

I didn't wanna create a fight.

I didn't want to create enemies.

I didn't want to get into in depth stories.

It's just something I feel strongly about so I defended it to the best of my ability.

And that to me was JUSTIFYING Why I do what I do.

If you don't agree with me that's fine.

Sorry I went so in depth.

I should have just said.

I carry 3 firearms.

And left it at that.

I will make sure I WON'T GET IN DEPTH WITH ANYTHING ELSE AGAIN.

Hell Now I don't even feel welcome here..

So odds Are I won't be sticking around...

It was good while it lasted I guess.

Thanks for making me feel like I belong.

Folks, this is an open forum. People can ask questions and others freely answer. Let's respect each other. After all, we can all be a little nutty in our own ways. Be respectful and tolerant. Gun Owners cannot afford to be divided in this day and age over minor differences of opinion.

Always remember, we have amendment #1 and protect it with #2. That is the most important thing here for us all.
