Rainbow Six,
Sorry, you're right but ...

The case did have a happy ending but please remember that not all people are used to the harshness of a jail type setting; especially when combined with emotional distress. I'm sure she would have survived a weekend(a detective friend pulled some strings to get a judge to set bail; otherwise she would have been held in the county jail until reg. court times) but that, in my eyes, would be an unjust punishment. In my family, being convicted of a crime would be one of the greatest disgraces possible. I guess we're strange but we highly value personal honor. To this day, my aunt is ashamed of being arrested.
Please understand that I do not hold anything against the patrolmen or the judge. The problem was with a gung-ho prosecutor and the "Policy" of the Police Dept. concerning shootings. I have heard the "reasons", but I still have difficulty understanding why the arrest and charges were made in such a clear case.

All I'm really saying is "Defend yourself and be prepared to go through hell afterwards."

Thanks, butch

May I have your permission to collect these stories and post them on my site?

And if so, may I e-mail you for details of the more vague ones?

Thanks!
