How many people

That could possible be the worst idea I have every heard. Why not just keep the pistol in condition-1 withing arms reach?

maddison08, I have found out that it came from the sprotsmans guide. Here is a link to the exact one from amazon.com. http://www.amazon.com/Guide-Gear-Hide-A-Gun-Picture-Frame/dp/B0006I0DXK#moreAboutThisProduct
However, it is currently not available and may have been discontinued since I can't find it on sportsmans guide website. I did though find a couple of similar ones.

ingenious! I was thinking of getting a biometric safe, but that is a lot more economical and it looks good to boot! I showed my wife and she says she can build one herself. She is crafty, but I think I might just go ahead and order one as I have little faith in her carpentry skill.

Obviously we would need a psychologist that specializes in sleep studies to accurately answer this question, and that is not my specialty, also, most psychologists are lefties to the crust so we may never find a good answer, but I would think a simple hand, finger twitch at the right moment could/would give a person a rude awakening. If the person was indeed friendly with the opposite sex then they could be in for some serious surgery followed by a quick divorce. I am sure that only a certified idiot would sleep with a loaded firearm, especially a revolver or auto in condition one. Besides my wife might not like the oil on her pillow cases as well as burned powder residue. What did I win? I do so hope it goes bang! Gimme, gimme, gimme!

Not under the pillow, but it does go between the mattress and box springs. I don't worry about having the bad dream and dischargeing it while keeping it under the pillow, but with my luck, I would knock it off the bed in the nite (restlesss sleeper) and not be able to find it if I needed it.

Not a chance I'd ever keep one under my pillow, or anywhere near my immediate area of reach.

Several times I've been woken up by my wife screaming at me, because I was about to punch her (I've been married a few times now, and all of them have woken me in the same scenario). Luckily, they woke me up before I did anything.

I've also sleep walked. Several times I've got out of bed, walked down stairs and ate something, and went back to bed. Never remembered it, but the wife(s) always told me I did the next morning.

Gun close by, plus my sleep walking, could be bad!

I was reminded (I don't know exactly why, just reading some of the replies) of the guy who killed himself by answering his .38 special when his phone rang while he was sleeping

Did - but kept dreaming about buying more ammo :D, so I moved it in to the quick access electronic safe on the nightstand.

.357 in a leg holster.

strapped to my thigh.

no, its on the night stand.

once or twice under the pillow for personal reasons.

Re: Handgun in the movie "War"

Just a question, I was watching the Jet Li action movie "War" and in one of the later scenes the big bosses (who was considered the boss who ran San Francisco from Japan) his daughter had a handguns that was nikel plated with black grips and I'm not sure, if it was a Hollywood Prop gun or not, does anyone know what type of gun it was?

I have considering keeping my handgun close to the bed, but with a 17 month old in the house, the wife and I are too afraid to have a gun within his reach area. If I had it under my pillow I would more than likely knock it on the floor during the night, thinking maybe one of those picture frame holders might be a good option. Have a pretty good alarm, with my Beagle that jumps at any noise.

I dont have guns, but I think the difference between a gun enthusiast and a person who has guns because they are afraid is the gun under the pillow question.
