I joined this october and finally got my membership card today, I signed up for the second year for $25 bucks and will be sending out tommorrow.

I'm a member but am becoming increasingly concerned that the NRA is going to hang us out to dry here in Kalifornia with respect to SB23. I can't believe there has been no action on their part thus far and this law was allowed to go into effect without any action from the NRA. Kalifornia is setting the pace for the rest of the nation with ever increasing gun restrictions. I would think the NRA would choose to make a stand here before this craziness spreads to the rest of the nation.

What is the NRA doing about CA confiscation of firearms? I am also a member, but which of you is pressuring the NRA to bring lawsuits against the CA laws? Are you satisfied with just lobbying, and nothing else? Our rights keep eroding, and so many continue to sing the praises of the NRA which keeps compromising. As far as I am concerned, all of us should tell the NRA that until they start some legal actions we are not going to continue supporting envelopes and stamps. Yes, we are better off with the NRA than without, but as I look at the recent gains by the anti's I'm not that pleased with the NRA. Jerry

I am a member. I think they could do a better job, but they are the biggest game in town right now, and we have to stick together if we are to make a difference. The NRA is the biggest obstacle in the way of the anti-self defense crowd. If it weren't for the NRA, we would be a lot worse off then we are now. So until something better comes along, I will be a member. Now if they would spend HALF the time and resources on legal issues as they do asking for more money, they might actually get something acomplished.

I joined the NRA in 1972. Although I do not agree with everything they do, they are the biggest dog on the street.
JerryM,I hear the NRA is filing a suit over the repressive Ca. laws to be served after the 1st of the year. We will see.

I was for nearly 10 years and I quit when the NRA got their heads stuck up their own fat little butts and forgot about the fight they were in.

Now, after some changes in NRA office and a much increased view of disdain for us and our ways I have rejoined and will remain.

Coinneach is right. They may do some screwey things but they are the biggest game in town. I'm really gonna be pis--d when they start waisting our money by sending me all that crap again. If they would pool all that $ then who knows how much better off we'd be>>>>

Ive been a member for a year, I recently bought a remington rifle with a discount NRA membership that came with it. I sent the discount to the NRA to renew my membership about two months ago and the check still hasnt cleared the bank. I havent been contacted by the NRA about anything about my membership other than its time to renew. The only reason Im a member is because the alternative is far worse.

Endowment++++++ many years.

Always input your ideas and opinions on the management of our NRA. Not just the gun fight issues, but on the budget, board members and many other internal things. Many people don't get involved in that side of it also.
Been heavily involved with "The Friends of NRA" since its inception. It does raise one hell of a lot of money. Support it!!!!

Second Post:

Don't ask what the NRA is doing to fight any particular threat::::::::::

WHAT ARE YOU DOING???????

Just like WE are the Government..WE are the NRA!!!!!!

Have been a member for many years.

My extended family all laughs in a good way because I am the 2nd Amendment fanatic. Well, I got some justification yesterday:

My wife's uncle called from Wales (British Army World War II vet -- tanker -- but a staunch believer in "no guns" at home) and he is pissed and now agrees with me that "maybe we should be allowed to own guns". Seems his daughter's home was broken into by a gang of thugs and they stole everything of value. Same gang that was caught in the act not to long ago and knifed an elderly gentleman who walked in on them... Uncle Jim is lucky they were not in the residence when he arrived or he might have been another victim.

Yep Life member. About 3 weeks "at most" after sending in my life membership dues "in one check I had saved up for it" I got letters/phone calls asking my to upgrade to Endowment/Benifactor? I was thinking I wouldn't get any more letters about membership. Told the person off suggested they only send me one letter per yr asking if I want to upgrade. And I think I only get two a year. Of course I get lots of "please send $35-200$$ to fight this xyz" but normally send one check and tell them all other requests will go strait into file 13 but they don't stop. I hate seeing needed funds being wasted....

I became an NRA Junior member in 1959. With the exception of five years in the service, I have been a member ever since.
Also the Ohio Rifle and Pistol Association and several conservation/shooting clubs.
