I figured I'd cap out around 6, but I think I hit 12 and I'm rather shocked, but I also think I cheated a bit.

My .22LR revolver can also shoot .22long and .22 short.
(3)
.38 and .357 covered by two revolvers.
(5)
.44mag and .44special... but also include .44 russian since it technically can be fired in the same guns
(8)
A pair of 9x19 autos
(9)
A pair of .45acp's
(10)
A PA-63 in 9x18 makarov
(11)
An 1851 Colt Navy Uberti clone in .36 roundball
(12)
...And also a .400corbon barrel for a Glock 21 that I no longer own.
(12.5?)

I figure I'll cap out around 20 by the time I'm done... I've got an itch for a 10mm (probably a Glock 29), a .45LC single action, and a Freedom Arms in .475 Linebaugh.... I "need" a .22mag handgun of some sort, and a Thompson Center Contender chambered in .30-30, .223 and probably several other cartridges.

Current list of handgun chamberings for me is...

17 HMR
22LR
22Mag
38 Special
38 Super
380 ACP
357 Mag
357 SIG
9 MM
10 MM
40 S&W
41 Magnum
44 Special
44 Mag
45 ACP
45 GAP
45 Colt
454 Casull
480 Ruger
50 AE

Not quite 400 handguns but I am getting close to 50 of them.:D

Let's see here...

1) .22lr
2) 9mm
3) .357sig
4) .40s&w
5) 10mm
6) .45acp
7) .400 Corbon
8) .480 Ruger (have the ammo, gun's on the way...)

Hhmmm...I don't own any firearms/ammunition; I just hang out some in these forums during a portion of my spare time.--Patrice

I've lowered my number quite a bit. I'm down to the following.

22LR
22 Magnum
32acp
9mm Makarov (9x18)
38 Special
357 Magnum
44 Caliber Colt Navy 1851 Black Powder
45 acp

I never counted before, and thought my list was a good one, but some of you guys have a lot of toys out there.

.22 lr
.22 mag
.25 acp
.32 acp
.32 S&W
.32 colt
7.62 nagant
9mm
.38 spl
.38 black powder
.357 mag
10mm
.45acp

I tend to stick with one handgun cartridge and one rifle cartridge (.22lr does not count). For me it’s 9mm and .223. I guess I only “maintain” those at 500rds or so each and around 10,000rds in .22lr.

I've made a concerted effort to reduce my calibers and am down to:

.38/.357
9mm
.40 S&W
.45 ACP
.22lr

I have ammo for guns I dont even own. but I stay stocked up on 380, 9mm, 38spl, and 45. but Ive got everything even a few boxes of 25 auto

Once again, caliber versus cartridge?

I own .380 and 9mm--same caliber, different cartridge.
I own .38 and .357, but they use the same caliber bullet.
Likewise, I own .45 acp, .45 Super and .45LC, all the same caliber, but different cartridges.

Yes, I hand load, so the distinction is valid.

So: excluding .22LR, three calibers. Seven cartridges.

Oops, almost forgot .41 Mag. Make that four calibers, eight cartridges...

I own Handguns in several calibers. Including

.22 Lr
.22 WMR
.32 ACP
.380 ACP
.357 mag/.38 spec
9x18mm
9x19mm
40 S&W
.44 Mag/44 Spec.
.45 long colt.
.45 ACP

And yes i shoot them all on a regular basis.

Define "maintain"?

How come if I've got a bunch of handgun calibers, I have to keep a billion rounds in stock for each of them?

I've got well over ten different handgun calibers in the house. Only for .45ACP, 9x19, .38 Spl, and .22LR do I stock really significant quantities of ammunition. .455 Webley Automatic and .38 ACP get by with about a box each.
