range

I have a 36 mile trip to a free public range about 75 - 80 miles round trip, sometimes I stop by Walmart on the way to the range.

I'm talking about a small one, like the one on the movie, Road Warriors (Mel Gibson as Mad Max)
No gyrocopters for me.
...Nor do I want anything piston-powered.

Turbine engine.
Doors.
Heat.
AC.
Reasonable payload capacity.

Anything less is a waste of time.

(Former helicopter crew chief. ;))

About 7 or 8 miles as the crow flies. Not bad. $100/year for me and my entire family. No additional range fees except for trap/skeet/5stand. Those are only $3.50 round.

This thread almost made me cry again,,,

This thread almost made me cry again,,,
I weep a bit every time I drive to the range.

I live 17 miles west of Stillwater,,,
My range is 12 miles east of Stillwater.

Way back when I was looking for a place to buy,,,
I found an older Mobile placed on 2.5 acres,,,
I passed on it not because of money,,,
Because of too many acres to mow.

My friend who owned a mobile tried to talk me into it,,,
She said if I bought it and rented her a spot,,,
She would move hers onto the property,,,
And do all of the yard maintenance.

It was a nice place with a decent abode,,,
But those big yards require a lot of maintenance,,,
And that's one thing I just hate to do is maintain a yard.

Fast forward a few years later,,,
I found out about the Stillwater Rifle & Pistol Club.

On my way to the range to attend the new member orientation,,,
I passed that trailer and lot which is three &%#$^*@ miles from the range entrance.

I've been kicking my own arse ever since.
