How does the weight of your CC gun stack up?

id carry 10lbs if i have too... oh wait i do.

m4 is roughly 8-9lbs with sights and loaded mag... plus usually 6 more full mags, Barretta side arm (34oz empty) 3 mag, frag jacket, canteen, radio, med kit, knife, blah blah blah

but off duty... until recently i carried my kimber pro-carry 2 45acp 28oz(empty)?

now its my Para CCW LDA 45acp 36oz(empty)

with 1 spare mag, and if im felling froggy ill carry my sp101 for backup 27oz(empty)?

some times my PF9 14.5oz (loaded)

Funny you should mention the Beltman

I just recieved my belt from him today. It weren't cheap but it is worth every penny and then some. Jim is a great guy to do business with and the belt is of uncompromising quality and looks great too. It will change how I carry both open on my farm and CC in public.
Both he and his product get my highest praise!!:)
If you talk to him tell him Bill from Horse Valley Pa. says Hi.:D

Seecamp 380- 11.5 oz

smith and wesson j frame model 331 11 oz.

North American Arms 22 magnum mini revolver 5.9 oz.

i guess you could say i like them small and light.

Well, I started carrying my 9mm S&W instead of my Ruger SP101; and, I am pleased with the difference it makes. The weight factor is almost the same. However, the 9 is slimmer and easier to conceal. Thanks for all the responses.

I think that weight and concealability are two of the main factors that prevent more people from carrying. What do you think?

Weight is a factor for me. During the summer, I drop to about 15.x ounce 642 and most other times, I prefer a 23.x ounce 640. I wouldn't want to carry a 12-ounce scandium for reasons that most of us should know.

Four inch Stainless Python. Not sure, but I figure that's got to go around 43-ish ounces unloaded. Maybe a bit more.

Never found the weight or size to be an issue.

For pocket carry , I go with a 2" Cobra @ 15 oz

Makarov 9x18, 28oz. which is not a problem if out and about, driving, whatever. The problem is sitting at a desk all day and the layout of the
office dictates that I need to have it on me, concealed. If I put it in a desk drawer I may as well not have one. I've tried a number of holsters and at best, very uncomfortable after a few hours. The cure: Ruger LCP. It's so small and light I actually don't even notice it. I can finally be armed and comfortable.

Weight is extremely important to me for a carry gun. If a gun pulls my pants down all day I won't carry it. Equally if it's bulky and digs into me all day it will sit at the house. I carry either a 442, cw9 or lcp when going places that ccw is permitted.

Weight is very important to me. My CCW pistol weighs 35 ounces plus ammo, and it feels very comforting on my hip.

I've got a weight threshold for my everyday carry gun, and it's somewhere around 30-35 ounces, unloaded.

I've cycled through several different firearms since starting down the Path of He Who Carries. The one that's been on my hip the longest by far is a Colt LW Commander. It's right around 30 ounces unloaded.

I've got a 4" Redhawk that I've made a diligent effort to use as my EDC, starting this last fall. I was unable to do so. Perhaps part of my failure is lifestyle and concealment standards on my part, and part of my failure is physical comfort... but given the fact that I had a safe full of other choices, I drifted to them.

(No, it wasn't a failure on the belt's part, or holster: I used a Beltman belt and a Simply Rugged holster. Just too much steel. I will gladly still carry the Redhawk out on the trail... just not every day around town.)

I have EDC'ed a full sized 1911, however, and for several months. So the "make it or break it" point for me appears to be somewhere between the 1911 weight and the Redhawk weight... between 42 and 47 ounces. Five little ounces.

But, this being the revolver forum...:p

My Ol' Reliable fallback gun when/if the Commander is acting up, is a Ruger SP-101 3" .357. Just shy of 30 ounces. I had a little drama with extractor tension recently that took a couple weeks to diagnose. The little Ruger escaped the safe, saw some daylight and rode on my hip then.

My BuG is a S&W 642 lockless. It's 15 ounces and rides front-pocket when I wear something other than blue jeans.

Mine aren't exactly lightweights.

Springfield armory 1911-A1 Mil - Spec (.45 ACP) = 39 oz. empty
Replaced my really lightweight Kel-Tec PF9. I don't mind the extra weight for running around town.

Ruger SRH Alaskan (454 Casull) = 44 oz. empty
The lightest gun I could find that was more powerfull than a .44 mag (fishing/hiking).

18.7 oz unloaded (Taurus PT140 Millennium Pro). I prefer to shoot things with a bit more weight to them, but my Taurus is a happy medium for riding my hip daily, while still retaining some shootability.

33⅞ oz. for the P7M8 with 9 9BPLEs in it, and 25¼ for the Taurus M85 with 5 158 gr. LSWCHP +p rounds. The P7 feels fine on my belt, but I do feel it. Which I kind of like.

I pocket-carry the Taurus, and certainly do feel that, too. Not so much, though that I feel the need to trade it for a titanium or alloy revolver.

If your CC gun is over 15 oz, how often do you carry it?
Almost every day. There are considerations that very occasionally cause me to leave the gun at home, but I have never not carried because of weight.

weight is a big deal to me. My P345 is only 37 ounces fully loaded. that is comfy to carry all day at my 4 oclock and conceals well. One of the reasons I got it was because of the conceal factor as well.
