As usual, it seems I'm the odd one in the bunch. Smith & Wesson Model
3000 12 Ga. pump. Has an extension tube and 20 in. barrel. Holds 7 in the tube, one in the chamber and 5 in the elastic butt side saddle. It was a sherrif's dept. trade in and little used.

OK,you convinced me.I thought it over again,and I admit
sometimes a flashlight forend may be useful indeed.

Aw,c`mon Shadowscout.
If the M590A1 is so fragile how did it pass the gov`t
mil-spec testing?(firing 3000 rounds without breaking
anything is required IIRC).
Maybe you just got lemons during that class, you know,
-misfortunes come in pairs;)
What`s the problem with sidesaddling a 590?
The Speedfeed Youth model sounds interesting. What`s LOP
with one fitted?Does it take 4 rounds too?

Regards

Shotgun Manual

For those of you who are interested, we have placed our shotgun manual, Some Of The Answer, Urban Shotgun on sale for TFL members only. This is a result of some kind words said about our manual. I do not think you will find another shotgun manual of this quality nor inclusive as to the depth this operator's manual.

It has application for home defense, military, law enforcement and hunting purposes.

For TFLers only the manual is on sale for the next 10 days for $29.95 delivered.

You must mention in your order that you heard of it here.

Thanks,

Jim Crews

For home defense:

I have a Mossberg 500 Persuader riot gun with an 18.5 in barrel and black synthetic stock etc.

I also have a Mossberg 590 with the Speedfeed stock, heatshield and sling.

Both my guns are blued not parkerized. I use 00 Buck and slugs for ammo.

Remington 870 Wingmaster. The only mods I've made were to cut the barrel back to 20" and screw (NOT epoxy) a set of Wilson ghost ring sights on. Kept high with 4 rounds of 00 Buck in the magazine and an empty chamber (hey, I've got kids!)

But I'm trying to come up with a decent sxs exposed hammer 12 gauge as a "Garage/shop defense shotgun" :)

RUGER SUPER RED HAWK 44 MAGNUM- 6" BARREL-6 SHOTS-#6 SHOT.
At close range-devistates anything in a 10 ft circle at about 20 feet.
So I don't sneak in on my wife after dark, There's not much chance that she is going to miss.

I bought a 1976 Rem 870 Wingmaster at a gun show back in November. It already had a 18.5" barrel, extended mag and rifle sights. I added a Knoxx Compstock and my fiance bought me a Mesa Tactical 4 shot side saddel. Only things else to do to it are some form of coating and a surefire forearm.

H Defense Shot gun

Brothers,

I own an HK Benneli 12g auto. And a Winchester Model 1300 Defender 20g pump. Both weapons systems are reliable & lethal. # 3 buck or slugs will do the job just fine. I like Pachmyer pistol grips and Houge forward grips. Lights, slings and xtra shell capacity are good too.

I don't get it.

Remmy 870 with 18 1/2" bbl, bead sight, youth stock, loaded with 000 buck.

I don't understand all this talk about heatshields, flashlights, folding stocks, ghost ring sights, and mag extensions. What possible advantage in an HD situation could any of these provide? As far as I am concerned these things are just a waste of money. A repeater is a plus in case of multiple BG's. A short bbl is needed for maneuverability. A shorter length of pull will make mounting the gun easier. These other add on's are useless.

1. Heatshield: Why would I care how hot the barrel gets, I'm not touching it, and hopefully I won't have to make that many shots to worry about it.

2. Flashlight: Why would I want to show the BG or BG's where I am? It's my house, I know where I am.

3. Folding stock: If I don't know if I should have it folded in or out, It's too late.

4. Ghost ring sights: Will you have time to use them?

5. Mag extensions: Are we talking about a shootout? I think not. If you are lucky enough to get the "Drop" on an intruder/'s , I think that they will most likely be heading for the way they came in, especially if you have taken one of them out. Four shots of 3 inch 000 buck is plenty.

Hope you never have to worry about using your HD SG.

My HD shotgun is a 1300 only because, to me at least, it is lighter and slicker. The 870 is my deer and turkey gun. That being said, I'd have no hesitation using the 870 for HD.

I am thinking of the getting the FN SLP with 13" pull and a Knoxx spec Ops stock. I like the fact that the SG is smaller in length for ease of use and deployment. I like th fact that I can shoot it while lying on the ground if that ever comes about. Being semi auto calls for more cleaning but, I don't plan using it everyday just once a month for quality control. The rest of the time it will sit at home just in case.

They make Spec Ops stocks for semi's? I wouldn't think the action could work reliably with a recoil absorbing stock.
