Hi-point Handguns

Tonyulichnie, the only aftermarket mags i've seen are Promags that fit the 9mm carbine and i've only seen those for sale at CDNN (1-800-588-9500)for $12.99. I wish Promag made them for the pistols as Hi-Point wants $20 for them.
P.S.Let me guess what 9x45 owns--a Schlock?

I like this forum...lots of SPICE. 9x45 I would like to know any
gun that has 20k rnds through it without rework from a good
gun smith. Most of the "torture tests" I have seen have been
around 10k rnds and they rant and rave about how its just
an incredible thing. Taurus did a 12k test on their 605 without
damage...nothing said about "normal wear and tear".
I feel a 1911 story coming on. You can drink and I will shoot.
Shoot well

20,000 rnds

Well, I also am curious what my .40 and my 9mm would be like in 20,000 rnds of shooting and since I am at the 2000 rnds point since purchase of my Hi-Point which would be 2 1/2 months now that means if i keep up this pace I have 741 days yet before I make the 20,000 rnds. But I can bet one thing if I make that 20,000 rnds my .40 will be in as good a shape as anyone elses out there considering at any time "IF" I have any abnormal wear I will be returning it to the manufacture for my "LIFE TIME WARRANTY" work without so much of any extra cost other than shipping and I dont know how many 1911 owners will be able to state that if they make it to the 20,000 rnd mark.
I am not saying my Hi-Points are the best gun out there, but I am saying in a defense tactical situation I am not worried that my handguns will do any thing different for me as your handgun will do for you.
Can I do any top line target shooting with someone with a racegun, heck no, and I doubt unless you have put $500 to $1500 extra into your gun above the cost, you will be able to either. But I will say in tactical defense shooting going through any course you want of your choice, I will stand toe to toe with you and any weapon you choose that would be considered standard CCW carry.

I love this thread becouse I have been able to communicate my feelings about the lower cost handguns without anyone being able to prove me different,(So far)

Tony

Oh yes I forgot, also way back when most weekly salaries for some were only $112.00 a week, so far I am ahead of the game

If your looking for a pretty gun dont even go there but in MHO if your looking for a great priced handgun that is really square, (love that square block look)
then this is the gun to at least consider.
As I stated on a previous thread putting on a Hogue Handall Lrg grip really makes the handeling much better

I sort of resolved not to get into this one, but I have to say I have never read such a silly bunch of nonsense as that from the "anti-Hi-Point" folks.

Whatinhell does Gallo wine have to do with guns? And what does being a wine snob have to do with guns? And even if someone did say something that silly, why does a quality gun have to cost a week's salary? Aside from the question of whose salary, this is total nonsense.

The function of a gun, right down to basics, is to kill, and to do it as efficiently as possible. While few of us here have used or ever will use a gun for that purpose, guns were invented and are designed primarily as weapons. If a gun serves that purpose, and is reliable and is within the necessary parameters for carry and use, that is all that counts. Appearances, material, color, finish, etc., are irrelevant when the gun has to be used to kill. The only things that count are power and reliability.

Ok, I will admit, I have never shot a Hi-Point. So I'm not going to toss about accusations of jamming, accuracy, whatever.
However, for the price, it seems to me that you'd be just as well served by a Makarov, TT-33, or CZ-52.
It seems you'd get basically everything the Hi-point has, along with a bit of that Eastern European, Com-Block mystique.
Just my two cents.

Why Not

I looked at the CZ handguns and even shot a few that a friend has but I just didnt like the gripping and I still like the nice block look never been into the Eastern European look and I really dont see the square look as that. I guess if you dont mind diggen around for some firing pins some where when you buy your CZ(but that is only from a few people that I know bought them)
then I say go for it
I'm sticking with my JC-40 and see if I can make that 20,000 rnd challenge. Hey that means when I make it my handgun only cost me .007 cents a round to own and love.
Imagine that.
Tony

Hey now....I have been stickin up for you hi-point guys..be nice
to cz's. Only the cz 52 has the firing pin problem from dry firing.
The rest are just a great gun...including the 52....and my dads
bigger than your dad, naaaaaaaa! shoot well

Mine

Sorry ut83 nothing wrong with them cz's.
In case anyone is interested, and even if your not, I had a chance to shoot 40 rnds of Cor-Bon Hollowpoint in my 9mm and my .40 today and with what little ammo I shot it seemed to feed well.
But I also tried a box of Winchester USA JHP in 9mm and .40
and had 2 FTE's on the 9mm and 1 on the .40. Go figure.
Also at the same range I wore my new shoulder harness which is an horizontal, so I thought when I pulled of my jacket evryone would see that big ole brick under my arm and go what the &*^#
Stay away from him man, that gun could go off......(A little ribbing to myself there people)

Tony

ut83, my 2nd Gen G21 Glock has just passed 60,000 rounds, without work from a gunsmith, good or not. Most quality 1911 varients will run about 100,000 before the frame gives out. You need to shoot more, and talk less, just show up at any compeitive forum, such as IDPA, Steel Challenge, USPSA, and count the Hipoints you see. See you in about 100 years! because their aren't any.

Tony, you are right about CZ's! Many a good USPSA limited and open gun has been built on a CZ platform.

9x45,
I have never heard of a gun with that kind of record...never. If
its true..then I stand corrected. I am the kind of person that will
state what I know as truth....even if I am wrong occasionally.
I will also admit if I am wrong. Its in my character and wont change that. I assume you can respect that. I will not talk less,
but I will shoot more. I appreciate the feedback...
Shoot well

IF YOU LIKE THE HI POINT THAT IS ALL THAT COUNTS. WHO CARES
WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE OR WHAT IT COSTS. IF IT DOES WHAT IT IS
SUPPOSED TO THAT IS ALL THAT MATTERS.

To Jim Keenan

Jim,
I think I have stated this before. My Hi-Point never worked right!! It was bought on sale and therefore unreturnable. I tried different mags. Nothing worked!!! I got so fed up that I buried it!!! This was way back in '94. I have no idea what the quality of Hi-points are now, but I do not want to find out!!!

An inexpensive well made reliable handgun or carbine that makes glock owners sick because they spent 4 to 5 times as much for a similar well made reliable handgun!:D
