Help Me Pick a Gun I Don't Know I Need

Well if you don't figure it out soon you think you could, uh, send some of that cash my way? :D

Just kidding.

PS: Sorry for my blatant copying of you Alaska [if you're reading this], imitation is the sincerest form of flattery though right? :D

1. 1911 in .45 ACP

2. AR-15 carbine in 5.56

That's what I wanted to suggest also. You don't have a weapon of this type yet.

1911: Didn't really care for its accuracy in the military

There are hundreds of manufacturers now, I think you can find several that are far more accurate than most shooters will ever be;)

American Rifleman did a test and review of the PT 1911 from Taurus and it shot sub inch groups at 25yds with nearly every type of ammo they fed it. And this a lower end 1911. I've heard about the accuracy problems with the old military 1911s and it was usually due to heavily worn parts. Can't remember where I read it but I heard about a soldier swapping out some minor parts (barrel bushings maybe?) when he went to qualify for his marksmanship test and shooting much better than his friends who had just taken their 1911 straight from the armory.

Damn... my STI does that, but it was twice as much as the Taurus! Good thing it holds twice as much ammo too, or I would feel ripped off! LOL.

You don't know that you need a T/C Contender or Encore. All those barrel choices, that lovely trigger, and that tackdriving accuracy at 100 yards, ewww. It's disgusting every time I take mine out.:D Personally I think everyone needs one. And I think I need more barrels.

Like EasyG and some others said, j-frame revolver is a must. Everyone needs one. People used to tell me this and I did not get it until I got one and now I know why. They are iconic, fun and very useful for carry. 1911 is a must too, but if you ccw at all, get the snub. It is great for those lazy days, you just grab a speed strip or two and shove the snub in a pocket (with a holster of course).

If...

If you're just itching to burn away a couple thousand bucks: HK MARK 23

If you want something "special" for your collection: Colt Python 357 Mag (this is similar to the first option)

If you want something fancy and Italian: Benelli Vinci

If you just want to spend a few hundred to get a gun you really don't need: Taurus .38 Super (rare to see modern guns in .38 super)

And of course, after you get a gun you really don't need, you should get a gun that every gun owner should have: a 1911 (preferably Colt, the original) or Browning Hi Power

Ruger Redhawk in 45 Colt.

Just because it makes no sense when you can buy it in 44 magnum. :D

Buy two and you can do your daily arm curls with them. :D
