Head is spinning!

So if you had been in Jeanne Assam shoes at church in 2007, you would have just turned and walked away?

Yup as fast as I could. As I said, I am not getting into a gun fight at 50 feet, that goes double for greater than 50 feet. You be the warrior. I'll let you young bucks jump into the firefights.

So if youre at the back of the store in a corner, with nowhere to go and they start shooting your way, or your wife is at the front of the store and and they start shooting people up there, youre not going to do anything?

Its not a perfect world, and you dont always get to pick and choose your fights. If you dont have the skills or mindset for carrying that gun, then maybe you shouldnt. That way, you dont have to worry about it.

No wife or children ... every store I have ever been in has access to storage in the back of the store. I go there before heading to the front of the store, looking for an exit. If blocked in I hunker down and prepare to battle boarders if they attack me with lethal force. I'm too old to be looking for a battle. Some day you might find yourself in that position, if you are lucky.

Life is tough, and then you die ... my dad was right.

Hmmm, I kinda feel the same but lately I've been looking at what I buy more closely. For instance, the PDX1 that was mentioned here a couple of times. I've been buying this stuff in .38 spcl for quite some time, I probably have about 75 rounds on hand. Its stout but manageable and very accurate out of my 637. Recently I stumbled across a YouTube video by TNoutdoors who does ammo test using ballistic gelatin. His test of the aforementioned ammo yielded no expansion but had decent penetration, obviously. I know the PDX1 uses a bonded bullet but had no idea it would cause it to act like a FMJ round. Also, this was only one test but it was all above board in terms of standards and this isn't the first report I've heard of it since.

If the PDX was reasonably priced I wouldn't mind but at $24 a box (20 count) I want performance. I plan on just switching back to the tried and true Gold Dot short barrel as soon as my LGS gets more in.

I don't think anyone is saying buy some twice fired brass with unjacketed lead. I don't see any quality SD ammo having any significant issues

Pretty much it. Just dont waste your money on those 20-25 round boxes. :)

Im a lot closer to old than I am to young. I havent got there by living with my head in the sand.

You obviously have your game plan all figured out, no matter how it unfolds. Im happy for you. It has to be nice to know ahead of time just what youre going to need and exactly what you will do, and everyone else involved, is on board and will cooperate.

Im a little more of a pessimist, and know Mr Murphy is a very real person, and things can often go to crap pretty quick. I prefer to practice for things that hopefully will never happen, but Im at least confidant I can deal with a lot more than a bulls eye target at the local range.
