Have you ever NEEDED a High-Cap Mag?

Pre-ban mags are just nice to have. Why wouldn't you want to be able to carry 15 or 17 rounds rather than 10, in the same gun?
As to need - I'd venture to say that 99% of the people who post in these forums have never needed a gun, much less one with a pre-ban mag....but that's no reason not to have one is it?
And of course there obviously are numerous situations that could arise that would require more than 10 rounds.

I don't need my apendix, but I have one.
I don't need a 110 lb. telescope in my dining room, but I have one.
I don't need a push bar on my Impala, but I have one.

The "I have" is a direct result of the "I want".

That's why I'm glad I was born in this country. I only want things that I don't really need. I glad that we're not discussing why I want one more ounce of grain or fresh water for my family.

No one here (including me) really needs a hi cap. We're just ticked off because some politicians took them away because a nut case went ballistic with one.

Remember what mom said, "I don't care who started it, neither one of you is going to play with it anymore!"

I don't need a hi cap, but yes, I have one!

color?

>>.............when the two black men followed me & pregnant wife off bus to strongarm us......<<

respectfully, what does their color have to do with anything?

had they been white, would you have referred to them as "two white men"?

Yes, then I wouldv'e referred to them as two white men.

This is no slam on black people. I'm not racist or anything. I was just telling the story. I can see where you're going with this and you're being naive. The troubles over the years I've had with punks has been (guesstimating) 90% black people, 10% other races. I'm not making this up and if it offends you go talk to some black folks and tell them to not be punks. Then my personal statistics and experiance would change to be more acceptable to you.

In fairness, I'll say that I've had a few black friends who showed more integrity and were more honest than most white folks. Go figure. Of course, these are all specific individuals that carved these impressions and personal statistics into my life experiances, both punks and good people.

I judge folks by the color of their character and not the color of their skin. I'm distrustful of ANY person I don't know until THEY reveal their true character, either good or bad.

In short, IME, black people who are good are very good, and black people who are bad are very bad. Applies to all races, but we're discussing black people at the moment. Sorry if these two guys were black, but I didn't choose them, they chose us.

well...

fwiw to you, i'll take you at your word that you would actually say "white" too (not many people would, but OK), but i <still> don't see what "color" has to do with anything.

why refer to it at all?

Why refer to it at all?

Good question. Sloppy speech patterns in this PC day and age? Maybe because I've had more bad dealings with the black race than good? At any rate, I didn't mean to offend anyone.

Methinks from your tone, that you're a good black man which feels slighted because my reference to black men kind of made you feel blanketed in with the punks? If so, I feel for you, and my apologies. The black race has had it stacked against them seemingly from the beginning, and alot of black punks are making it even harder for the good black folks to not be seen in the same light.

We're all the same color in God's eyes. God bless you and yours.

no....

i'm white and hate PC.

i don't question your right to speak your mind, just, and with continuing respect, the necessity to make such distintions.

some folks can be trusted and some can't. beyond that i just, literally, don't see what difference their skin color makes any more than their hair or eye color.

if you live in china, most crime is committed by asians<g>.

i just think we have to try hard to even ignore our own statistically limited experiences and be careful not to draw wider conclusions.

to wit, most dope dealers/drug users are, by huge statistical margin, white.

yet the popular perception, if you will, is a young black male crack dealer.

anyway, were i black, i would have appreciated your good wishes.<g>

have a good one.

Blacks commit more crime than whites, therefore if two black men were following him, chances that he was going to be attacked were greater than if two white men were following him. The same would be true with white men vs asian women. The odds were increased. Thats the facts. Thats all it means, the way I interpreted it.

sorry, but they don't...

the vast majority of crimes (by the numbers) are committed by white people.

especially true if you include white collar crime<g>.

the number of crimes committed in poor neighborhoods is higher per capita...but that is about poverty.... and poor whites have more crime too.

IOW, you still have far more, statistically, to fear from whites doing crime than blacks....tv/racism notwithstanding.

and when blacks are involved in crime, you are much more likely to be a victim if *you* are black.

check the DOJ figures if you doubt me.

that blacks and hispanics pay a higher *price* for crime and are disproportionately punished for the same things is a function of racism not justice.

none of that *excuses* *any* criminal behavior, but it pays to have the numbers and facts straight<g>.

take care.

once again, what could be a promising thread, has broken down into personal feelings and political correctness. I always wonder about a person, new to the forum, jumping in to be combative and stir up trouble. That kind of pop sociology crap does not fly with me dude.

but I digress.........

I have some handguns with hicap mags, and some without. I carry revolvers most of the time for CCW. I am comfortable with all of them, or I would not choose them to take with me when going about. Need hi cap? maybe not, but then that is my decision to make, not another persons choice to impose on me.

Come to think of it, the last time I contemplated using a gun, was when a black kid was shooting the kitchen window out of my apartment so he could gain ingress without lifting the window and setting off the alarm.

I have never needed a gun or a hi-cap magazine.

However, when I go to the mall, I notice that people who look suspicious (in my eyes) tend to travel in groups of 4-5 people. I'm not sure I'd feel comfortable with only 5+1 in a magazine.

no reason to wonder....

everyone is new here until they are not.

everyone starts with a thread they may find interesting.

disagreeing, especially with supportiung data is always "troublemaking" for some who don't like it.

there is "pop culture" and there are facts.

all public posts are fair game for comment.

The fact is, that a sense of reality and purposeful existance would dictate not going off on irrevalent tangents. PCness is a tangent itself. Its letting washington butt in to the conversation and derail it. You're not even the nice old black man with hurt feelings, which means you were arguing just to be arguing. Pull loose from the propaganda fella. Shake it off!

How come washington dont like high cap mags? So many are needed there!;)

think about it......

i am not washington, i have no problem with hi-caps, i believe in a literal interpretation of the 2nd..the *emerson* interpretation.......and none of that is mutually exclusive with believing in facts as the foundation for sound discussion and progress.

you obviously disagree<g>....

...but talk is the lifesblood of freedom and, indeed, if *facts* were what we traded on when we talked and made public policy, then we gun owners would not be beset by all manner of lies, restrictions and government up our butts for exercising a constitutional right.

see the connection?
