Has anything you've read here at TFL changed your opinion of anything?

I made some new friends.. and learned a thing or two along the way like..

A guy my size really CAN conceal a full sized 1911... You can finish your hi-power in purple teflon if you want... there is long range, longer range and artillery range... FUD is not someone I'd want to sit next to for too long (collateral damage)... coinneach's pic LOOKS like a scary bald guy but he's pretty nice... MOST of those competitive pistol shooters are pretty nice folks after all... shiner bock isn't bad either.. I learned George Hill hangs out with girls with blue hair... I learned everyone loves the m-14 until they get an FAL... I've learned that guys with AR's and glocks are NEVER wrong (at least in thier minds ;) ).. I learned that jeff cooper bless his heart is not always right... nor am I for that matter ;) and I have learned to be a more peaceful, caring gun nut because of TFL.

Makes ya feel all warm and squishy don't it?

Dr.Rob

I've mostly just met a lot of cool people: Joe Klug, Rainbow 6, and Killer45Auto, DaHaMac, and FUD (still haven't actually met him yet though).

I've learned a TON here though... but can't think of one thing in particular. I came in here with some pretty strong beliefs (knowing what I liked), so my mind hasn't been changed too much.

After meeting many TFL'ers at Gunslinger and Terri's place, I learned that I am not alone.

I learned that I am not odd.

I learned that there are actually people that do not care for 1911's ;)

There are too many people that I learned from, but to name a few...
Art, thanks for all your hunting advice.

Fal308, extremely knowledgable about EVERYTHING.

Gunslinger and Terri, two of the biggest hearts you will ever meet.

Coinneach, there are other tattooed, computer geeks like me. :)

I learned that behind screen names and smiley faces, there are people behind that monitor. People that have feelings. People that cry. People that think. I learned to respect these people immensely.

FUD, you can move next to me anytime. You would be a fun neighbor.

I have found ALOT of people that I want as my neighbor!!! Having FUD as a neighbor would make life interesting at the least! Wonder what would happen if we ALL lived in the same town??? Wonder if any criminals would be dumb enough to come there? :D

"I learned that there are actually people that do not care for 1911's " I want a 1911!!!! COuld have gotten one a few years ago NIB Government model for around 250?.. missed that :(

Everything I read here totally changed my mind of the typical gun owner. It's just a shame that more people can't see the brighter side of things. Thanks TFL! :)

Along with all of the technical info. I've picked up, I've learned that I am not the only one who believes in gun ownership as strongly as I do. United we stand!

My TFL-based learning has included three principal arenas:
1) TONS (yes I am shouting) of exceptionally valuable technical information regarding firearms and marksmanship.
2) Even greater skepticism of governmental institutions (which I revered and risked my life to defend).
3) Great friendships can be forged in "cyber space".

Ditto on what everyone said......although if you have a 1911....why would you want anything else? :) :) :)

I learned I can spend time alone with my buds from afar and learn more than all those liberal teachers ever taught me. And it's definitely more useful. This place is a sanity enhancer for me and I be in need.
Amen

FUD can move into my neighborhood anytime. I'm the only person on my street who actually owns and shoots guns. My neighbors are liberals and that's the best I can say for them.

Before I came to TFL, I thought the gun control act of '68 was a good idea. Some people here with very reasoned arguments pointed out clearly why it was not. In the past months I've become more "hard line" on gun control, more so than I ever thought I'd be. But with good reason.

There's people on this forum who should be at the helm of the NRA, such is the depth of their thinking.

There's also some great humor, and some great stories. FUD's experiences, of course, spring to mind. Who else has faced hurricanes, alligators, stalkers and a whole host of other ner'do'wells in a weeks time? Then there's the stories from people who've had experiences I never would wish on anyone.

All in all, a great place to learn. Thanks to everyone who's chimed in.

I used to be very misanthropic, thinking that all the other people in the world were as screwed up as the media seems to make everyone out to be. I thought liberalism was eroding everyone and there were no sensible people out there.

I know a lot of young people feel that way, whenever they take the time to think when they bother to peel their eyes off a game, a girl, or a TV.

I used to think I should be allowed to have guns, and others shouldn't. I used to think that stupid people should be destroyed, or not allowed to vote. TFL has changed a lot of that. TFL has taught me what real compassionate conservatism is, it's about teaching people not to be victims, so you don't have to reach out to them in the first place, and it's about doing what makes sense, like protecting liberty and controling the government instead of letting it control us.

I think TFL has taught me about giving and recieving respect. I think it has been the intellectual equivalent of going into the military(though not necessarily today's military). I think I've become a better, more proactive person because of all the good examples here at TFL. In fact, though I am now better armed, I have much less desire to kill people since becoming a TFLer, because like I said, it has restored a lot of faith in humanity.

TFL is a good example of what's lacking in our society. Look at me, I could have become a criminal, or a liberal(similar, only state sponsored), or something dire like that, but all it took was good examples to bring some faith back into my life. If only kids in the community had more examples like TFLers they'd be a lot better off, and so would we.

Since I've been here I have learned about the CZ-75 and S&B ammo, both of which I had never tried before meeting the folks here. I relied upon the collective experience of the members here and have not been disappointed.

I joined this forum after Compuserve's Firearms Forum shut down and I left that service. I like forums like this because I get to meet some great folks (both here and in person) and learn about products from a wide range of experiences. IMO, those are the -best- things about TFL. Being able to research a purchase here before buying can not only save you a lot of money it can also prevent you from making a bad decision. Finding new shooting buddies in your area is always a plus and makes for a great time.

That reminds me, we need to schedule another Georgia TFL get together sometime before the end of the year. :)

I've learned that AR's aren't unreliable, and that I want one. :) I've learned that others besides myself believe that John Moses Browning was the greatest engineer to ever design a gun. I've learned that others have the same sentiments towards Glocks that I do. Most of all, I've learned that as David Scott said, I am not alone.
