Has anyone contacted Glock on erratic ejection ?

When you field strip your G30, you should see a model number stamped on the right side of the ejector. What model of ejector do you have installed?

I've found that for whatever reason the older Glocks tend to have fewer issues with ejection (again all my experience is with 9mm Glocks).

My experience is the same. I have a Gen3 19 manufactured around 2002 that has always had extremely consistent ejection.

Pretty much every newer Glock I've owned since is much less consistent.

That's the ejector you want. Never hurts to verify the proper part is installed!

I've seen similar problems twice before with 9mm Glocks. Both times there were telltale dings on the spent casings near the mouth. Do you see anything like that on your spent brass?

I had one of the first batches of Glock 19 Gen 4 pistols. BTF king. Sold it later one and then have had 8-12 more Glocks since then, most of which were Gen 4 and they performed flawlessly.

I had a very early Gen4 G-22 and I had the same BTF problem, replaced it with a Gen4 G-21 and the problem was solved.

>Same issue here also. Been shooting Glock pistols for 25 yrs. Recently picked up a gen 4 model 34 and have noticed more than a few times spent casings bouncing off my face. Never experienced this with any previous model or generation pistol.<

With my G19g3, out of a 100 rds of new ammo, or commercial reload ammo, I'll get 1, 2 occasionally 3 erratic ejections that instead of going to the 4 o'clock wind up hitting my hat. In my case, it seems more gun than ammo related.

Gothcopter ....interesting, I will shooting a few rounds tomorrow morning behind my house and check....(..I am still amazed on how brand loyalty can blind people..)..I shot my 26 gen3 today 100 rounds mixed ball, all rounds were 4 o' clock around 4 feet away. I have been shooting Glocks since the mid 90's this is the first issue I have ever had with them.

This is the first I heard of the .45 having BTF problem . I have read a lot about it with their 9mm , gen3 & gen4 and their new flavor of the month finish wearing off fast . I have a Glock 23 that I bought many years ago and have never had a problem with it , but I would not buy a new one today because of the lack of support from Glock .

The problem with erratic ejection with Glocks has been going on for years. Most folks if they want their gun to work just buy the APEX extractor. The problems usually go away. 2-3 years ago it was real bad. Now it appears it is more common to get a good gun rather than a problem gun.
Glock paid for multiple trips on my Gen3 and Gen4 G19's for this problem. Finally sent it to APEX and it has worked ever since. You shouldn't have to use a special load to get your gun to work. Hot loads just increase slide velocity and cover the real problem. Glocks are supposed to according to their manual work with any SAMMI or NATO spec ammo.
Sometimes if you push they will pay shipping. But the gun may or may not come back working. If they insist on you paying shipping you have paid the price of the APEX extractor. When I was going through the whole thing I would get a gun back and it would say "no problem found". With parts changed.
It is really stupid to say wear a hat to not get hit in the head by hot ejected casings. One in the eyeball in a life or death struggle could be serious if you don't happen to have a hat on that day! Every gunsmithing manual I have has a section on how to fix erratic ejection. It shows a problem with the gun Good luck.

I agree. Glocks, as service weapons, should be able to handle all types of brass cased ammo. Also, if Glock pistols need to be fired with a proper, firm grip, EVERY TIME , in order to function, then I will move on to another brand.
If any gun, regardless of brand, ejects the spent casing into the operators head, one cannot explain it away: "as long as the gun ejects it is doing it's job". Are you kidding me? Has Glocks hype and advertising really affected common sense? My current 26 is ten years old and functions properly. I will look into a new extractor for the 30 rather than send it in, I will probably save money in the long run.

Excellent reference Tunnelrat.

I specifically sought out a M prefix or earlier G19 and found a MYE prefix. It obviously has mixed parts as you can tell from the extractor, striker is MIM. Have heard some of the N prefix( mid 2009) are GTG.

Extraction has been perfect regardless of weight or brand.

Have a friend who just got a new gen4 19. Casings were ejecting just like you were saying. Gis shootimgvwas suffering seriously because he was getting bonked in the forehead with every other shot. Had a good look, the ejector was tweeked to far inboard. Pair of pliers fixed that.
