Handguns/Firearms In Movies.....

Dave--In "Tell them Valdez is Coming," he was using a Sharps buffalo gun, too, but I don;t recall his talking about the load he used--It's been a long time since I've seen the movie.

Dang! I guess I'll have to go rent it, now.
Seems as if one of his erstwhile opponents, who'd been on the receiving end of that deal, said something like, "That must have been fifteen hundred yards!" And Valdez replied, "More like seventeen."

Or perhaps it was twelve and fifteen--I misremember. Good movie, though.

Seems I read that Steve McQueen was quite a gun buff and insisted that part of "The Sand Pebbles" be re-written so he could use his personal Browning Automatic Rifle for a couple of scenes. He also did some classic shooting with an '03 Springfield in same movie. And, remember his working out with the pump shotgun in the original "The Getaway?"

Most of my favorite movie gun scenes have already been mentioned by others.

Oh, yeah--Notice how Humphrey Bogart always seemed to use Colt .32 and .380 pocket autos in his crime movies? I understand he was sensitive about being rather small of stature and so didn't like to use a .45 auto. But in "High Sierra," he or one of his gang had an old 1905 Colt auto.

Best,
Johnny

The handgun Harrison Ford uses in "Blade Runner" is kind of nifty, although it is really just a Charter Arms Bulldog modified to fit up inside the action from a Steyr bolt rifle. The multi-ouroose gun in "The 5th Element" was a hoot.
