Hand over scope to steady shot

The only time I've done it was when the gun was on its side laying on the hood of a car. I don't know if it made a difference.
By coincidence--that's my primary "shooting bench"--the hood of my pickup. I shoot in an active quarrying pit/dump site with heavy equipment traffic that can show up at any time forcing me to stop and move on a moment's notice. Price I pay to shoot on what is otherwise a very rare place to shoot 100 yds or more in the most heavily wooded state in the lower 48.

It's the best place to shoot open to me for hundreds of miles--and it's 1.5 miles from my house. Accessibility=frequency of shooting. I do whatever it takes to keep the owners happy.
