H&K Jamming Problem

As a general Rule more expensive products are not more reliable. German cars are a perfect example, they routinely prove more problematic than their lesser priced counterparts. I have noticed that some owners of high priced products get very protective and defensive about their prized possessions. The high price tag sometimes clouds the persons judgement, letting perception become reality.

I drive VWs and own HKs. I'd agree with you to an extent on the cars, but recent years have shown me that Honda and Toyota are no longer the beacons of reliability they once were (every car is loaded with electronics that can go wrong). However my HKs are without a doubt the most reliable pistols (out of 70+) I have owned in putting 9k pistol rds downrange each year. On a purely mechanical device like a firearm, the German car comparison doesn't work.

Just for the record, I have 14 HK's, and although 3 are collector, never fired, safe queens, the other 11 have all fired without a hitch. the ONLY feed/fire problem I have ever had was with one certain mag that for some reason would, on occasion, not stack properly and then not feed properly. When that happened the mag would only take 9 rounds. so I now make it a practice to always count out 10 rounds then load them. If for some reason it doesn't take all 10 I know something didn't stack right and I simply reload the mag. Even this has only happened 4 times in all my shooting with H&K.
I have many tens of thousands of rounds through my H&K's and, except for the above, never had a single failure of any sort, ever.
Call me a fanboy if you want, but H&K is the one that has proven its reliability to me and, if my life ever depends on a gun, that's the one I want in my hand.
I do hope HK customer service resolves the problem for the OP. If he still has a problem, maybe we can help in a constructive way. It would be a shame to give up on an HK or a Firing Line member.

I'll contribute a safe queen pic. :D

I only have one HK safe queen -- the unfired blued P7M10 below (came with box and all papers). I have a nickeled one that sees range time. Looking to add an M13 and an M8 after I pick up a few other things.

^^^^^ THIS!! I sold my P7 PSP in 2008 for $750. I have regretted it since. In my searches on Gunbroker, it seems they are priced at $1000+ now.:(

Another thing, I was reading through this thread and I absolutely busted up laughing at this reply by Co Th G
To the OP. I STRONGLY suggest that you go to http://www.hkpro.com/forum/hk-handgun-talk/ and let them know of your problems and that you think your HK is a POS. They will provide you with good feedback for your issues.

Hahaha those guys would have torn the OP a new one!!! That's just how they are over on hkpro though.

AustinTX, that is a beautiful P7M10 that you have there. In my readings of the P7, it seems that there were around 4000 produced, and 1000 of those were blued. I would imagine that yours is quite valuable, especially being unfired!

Yup this was my exact problem. I bought mine for $600 in 2010 or 2011. Wasn't a mint condition model in any stretch of the way but I wanted a CCW and shooter, and the gun was awesome.

I let something else catch my eye (probably one of my 1911's) and I ended up selling it to a buddy of mine who works for a dealer for a little bit of a profit, as you said, around $750, which then was a good rate for them.

Now it seems you can't touch one under $1000-$1100. I buy and sell a TON of guns, constantly "trading up" in my collection, but that's probably the only firearm I regret selling.

Thanks, Idaho! I got it for a really nice price at the time, so I imagine it's worth quite a bit more now than what I paid for it, especially given the recent crazy rise in P7 prices. That's nice for me on the one hand, but, on the other, that jump is also why I'm now hesitant to buy the M13 and M8 I'd still like to have. :o

Show us these Safe Queens while we wait for the OP

Not a safe queen, but this USPc stainless 9mm, dated KH was my first HK. I love this gun!

This is my latest HK, a P7M8, bought in 2014, a great gun show find for a great price of $670.

USP Elite .45acp. Uber accurate.

My all time favorite, a 9mm P2000sk.

No safe queens, but all are fit for a KING. ;)

MOD NOTE: I don't know how this one escaped the mods' collective notice for so long, but I've just had to hand out a bunch of infractions and clean up a bunch of posts, all for the same thing: Inappropriate language. Please watch your language, folks.
