Guns in Movie/tv trivia game part 2

i haven't seen all episodes from the past 7 seasons or so and the one with the S&W must have been one of them.

Who's up for asking a question? this is fun and i want to keep it going. the only thing we should do is ask 1 question at a time. if 2 or more questions are going at a time then it gets confusing.

I had read that Mulder was carrying a Taurus 92 (Beretta 92f Clone), while Scully carried a .380 caliber Bernadelli piece (resembled a Walther or one of its clones).
Didn't Travolta have the Beretta 93R in the movie 'Broken Arrow' and not 'Face Off'?

Kind of a trick question since I don't really know the answer, but we have some real whiz kids on TFL who might know.
In the movie "Red Heat", starring Arnold Schwarzenegger and James Belushi, what kind of handgun did Arnold use in the 1st half of the movie?
Note: not the S&W .44 mag Belushi gives him in the 2nd half of the movie.

Travolta definatly had a Stechkin in face off. I belive the prop guys line was "This gun is to cool for a good guy to use."
Definatly a 93R in Broken Arrow.

ModIMark0, in the very first X-files Mulder definetly had a 92F. i could see the safety on the slide not on the frame. i don't know if he ever carried a Taurus or not. Travolta definetly had a 93R in Broken Arrow but he also did in Face Off.

Karanas, i've seen the movie but have no idea what that gun was called. it looked like a desert eagle but i know it wasn't. i remember it had an extended barrel though.

Mulio Rex, in the end scene when Travolta pointed the gun at the good guy's daughter he was holding a 93R. he may have had something else later on but i destinctly remember seeing it for that 1 second.

In the Arnie movie Red Heat he carried the mighty Podbyruin 9.2mm.

Actually, the pistols used (there were three) started life as aluminum-framed Desert Eagles in .357 Magnum. Tim La France did the conversion to look kinda like a P38, only on steroids and lots meaner. He also made the bad guy's little sleeve gun.

The Podbyruin would have been 3k each, but the director wanted them 'yesterday'...no problem, but now 6k each.

:)

So, my turn...here is an odd one. The 'Assault Phasers' used in Star Trek 5, 6, 7 are built off what well-known but hard to find 9mm pistols?

Russell92, your wrong dude, in "face-off" the full auto pistol John Travolta carried was most definately a Stechkin, not a 93R. They had "the making" of Face Off on HBO and they pointed this gun out specificly.

The more I think about it, the more I feel that BB and Mulio Rex might be right about the Stechkin. I'm gonna check tomorrow.

But in case I'm right here's my question, an easy one; What gun did "Hans" the head honcho bad guy in "Die Hard" use?

ok i could be wrong. sorry i was gonna ask about broken arrow but i thought that would be too easy.

kingknives, a stainless steel HK P7. or maybe it was something like hard chrome or nickle but it was that color.

Hello, Robb. Did Sam Elliot use a LAR Grizzly in .45 Win Mag? Also, for the Star Trek phaser question: Would they have been made from C96 Mauser Broomhandles? Best.

Nope, Broomhandles were the perview of Han Solo. The "Assault Phasers" were cast from a Beretta 93R frame. It was intended to be an inside joke, since Shatner And His Amazing Hairpiece were also doing TJ Hooker (and were armed with Beretta 92's).

Ok i actually don't know the answer to this question and have been wondering for a while on the answer (but not enough to spend $4 to rent the movie) :-)

what gun did Tom Cruise have when he was in the hotel room towards the beginning of Mission Impossible 1? i haven't seen the movie in quite a while so i don't remember. i bet it was a glock but i don't know for sure. i could probably tell if i saw it again.

I thought that Tom Cruise had a Berretta Cougar in 9mm. It has been a while so I could be wrong.
The question I posed in the first movie/gun thread is this: What was the sniper rifle in Kelly's Heros?
It was a Mosin Nagant. And just how did a GI get one so shortly after he landed at Normandy?

Ok, been a while since I've seen either but, wasn't Arnie's pistol in "Red Heat" a 10.5mm?
I also seem to remember "T.J. Hooker" carrying a 6 inch Python.
Anybody know for sure?

There's no such thing as too much love, too much money or too much ammo.

here's one from a movie that hasn't actually been released yet -- Hannibal, the sequel to Silence of the Lambs. these shots are insider scoops from the Coming Attractions website (http://corona.bc.ca/films/mainFramed.html):

I don't think this a particularly tough one, but the scoop factor is fairly cool; what's Clarice/Julianne Moore carrying here?

Back to Red Heat...Arnie's gun was also refered to as a "9.2mm Ptomkin". However, it was a .357 Desert Eagle with a whole lot of welding and grinding.

I have some copies of La France's production blueprints, and some pre-production pictures. Neat toy.

On the Hannible pictures...looks like a mid-sized Glock, either a 19 or 23...I'm not that good with Tupperguns...

Checked Face off today, definitely a Stechkin. I must have been thinking about Broken Arrow.

Russell92; That's right HK P-7 stainless (whatever?)

I'll have to think of a tougher one.
