Gun store/range issue

I was trying out guns today at the gun store. I really liked the Sig carry. 45.

In any case I was a bit offended. I bought two Glocks there.

I was asking to see a bunch of guns, and the salesman said it's time to **** or get off the pot.

And I responded no the next step would for me to rent it and try them.

I spent some bucks in that gun store/range. I go to the range there 3x per week.

I am rather offended of the way he spoke to me.

I hate to sound like a girl, but am I being too sensitive?

No youre not being too sensitive. its your money you are looking to spend. You have every right to take as much time as you want before you buy whatever it may be that you have your eye on. If it were me, I wouldnt go back there.

rude people and stupidity run rampant, if there is another gun shop I'd go there I might still use there range, unless there is another range close by.

A girl??

As a male NuB to the gun world, I know there are some females that read this forum. You probably diffused your point going there (sound like a girl).

You added , insult to injury in my view , by buying 2 guns from these bozos.
Maybe you had bought the guns earlier?? I will be going to a gun store and range for my first purchase. After reading this forums, my knowledge learned, would not let me buy a gun from someone who was rude to me.

My view.

Take care

That's why I said girl and not woman ;)

Actually I don't understand your point.

Ah, I understand. Yes, I bought the two guns earlier. In fact, I bought them in the last 1 1/2 months.

I'd take my business elsewhere.

Was the salesperson the shop owner or an employee? If it was an employee the owner should be made aware his employee is offending and running off good customers.

I would ask to speak to the owner (not the manager). If he were "unavailable", I would find out his name and write him a letter.

I would make sure that he knew that I am a repeat customer (x purchases within y months) and would be inclined to continue to be one...but for the rude treatment of his employee(s).

Make sure he understands that there are other stores that welcome your business...unless, of course, this is not the case (which I doubt).

I deal with a lot of people in my business. I get a lot of phone calls and a lot of questions. As much as a PITA as some people can be, I am always polite and accommodating. The first thing I learned as a teenager when I got my first job in retail was this: if you make one person happy, they will tell 3 people about it. If you make one person unhappy, they will tell 30 people about it.

I advise you to tell all your friends how much this shop sucks.

I know where you are coming from.

Similar situation about a week ago when I stopped by a gun store I do not normally visit. I asked the counter help about half a dozen questions regarding ordering a G32 and then our short conversation turned toward ammo.

That was when the owner butted in and stated that he had plenty of frangible ammo in ??250rd?? cases. I replied I was not interested (do not want overpriced cheap bulk at the moment, thanks anyway) to which the owner replies "Come back when you are ready to buy something".

Wow. Way to go, Jerk. If your counter guy works off commission, you should apologize to him 'cause you just single-handedly flubbed his guaranteed sale.

Just had to vent and seemed like the place to do it. Later.

It always feels good to stoop to the level of smart arses at first, but your money will definitely make the point. You could always carry your own ammo and targets to that range if there are no others to shoot at nearby.

If he had a problem with you he'd HATE me. One of my local gun dealers pointed out to me he was more than happy to get out guns for me because he knew that the third visit that I had a certain gun pulled to look at I was going to buy it. After reviewing his comment I found that he was right! So now I just walk in and tell him its trip #3 and he pulls out the paperwork. We both laugh at it! Lets face it its a process we all do differently. You are lucky that you get to shoot first then buy. I can do that at one shop but they have no idea of costumer service. I have to give them my money for some of the reloading supplies but I'll keep it limited to just that unless I have no other choice.:D

but your money will definitely make the point

Absolutely. But only for my own piece of mind 'cause I seriously doubt I will visit the store again. It's a shame though since the counter guy that assisted me from the start was a decent enough fella'. I could tell that from the fact he was OC'ing a S&W Gunsite 1911 just like mine.

Stupid can't be fixed. Contact the OWNER of the establishment and outline your treatment and explain how it made you feel. The owner should have the opportunity to fix the issue and clean up his shop. Don't be worried about the consequences to the dweeb sales person. He knew what he was doing or else he should have and will know better in his next position.

If the owner does nothing - stop going there. And tell everyone you know about how they treated you.

How long were you looking and how many guns did you have him take
out of the case?

I'm in sales and know you can't say stuff like that to customers.

However, if it's BUSY in the store and there are people that "want to buy" can politely suggest "they sleep on it", "browse the website" or "think it over."

Equally, it's common courtesy to not "excessively" browse during busy times. Go by there when it's slow and EVERYONE has a little time to kill.

In regards to your OP, he shouldn't have said that though.

walk out...

...don't go back. Ever.

Retail is all about foot traffic. vote with your feet. Cabela's (for example) has always given me great service. I have purchased 3 guns from them. I know the "buy local" argument, but nearly every "local" shop in my area is staffed with unmitigated ********. There is one shop that I swear they seemed annoyed when I stop to see what is in stock.
