Gun show carry ban??? Support or not?

Do you support the prohibition on loaded firearms inside an organized gun show? Why?

NO, . . . I do not support it.

Pretty sad state of affairs when the gun totin', . . . gun lovin', . . . gun buyin' , . . . pistoleers are afraid of their own kind.

Yeah, . . . there are some people too stupid to own a gun, . . . but the Good Lord, Himself, . . . and our nation (so far at least), . . . let's a person sin or break the law before the stuff hits his fan.

We're supposed to be careful enough, . . . honest enough, . . . safe enough, . . . trained enough, . . . and capable of carrying every place we go: but we balk at allowing our fellow pistoleers carry, . . . :barf::barf::barf:

In the Lord's house, that is being a hypocrite, . . . in politics, it's being a Democrat. I'm neither, . . . and don't plan to look like one either.

May God bless,
Dwight

Yes, I support the ban. Unfortunately, there are too many fools out there. If you want to comply with the rules and still carry, then keep a loaded mag separate and a knife. Cut the plastic tie thing if there's a true emergency inside the gun show and insert the mag. It may not be as fast as we might like, but I like my odds better doing this than dodging the negligent discharges.

I guess I never answered the initial question. I don't support the idea of the ban but since I understand why the ban exists and because I want gun shows to continue, I'm not willing to fight the ban.

It's a necessary evil. We can have the ban and keep gunshows or eliminate the ban and lose gun shows. I don't like the ban but I'll take it over losing gun shows.

I voted no, although I am 50-50.

I agree, the biggest problem, is people get to playing/swapping/etc. guns and forget something's loaded, so it is a help.

BUT....it goes against the carrying emphasis.

My solution? Next gunshow I'll be hand-carrying a Sig 226, a loaded mag in a pocket and my belt knife.

I think personally some guns should be still mandated NO guns loaded, but some can be stated as Carry weapons and un-zip-tied (Considering alot get cut anyway when testing). Then encourage loaded-mag carry.

Great Thread!

PlayboyPenguin; This has been a great thread, lots of ideas and different perspectives. One of the best I have followed in a long time!!!:D

The last gun show I was at had a policy of ALL VISIBLE WEAPONS will be unloaded and tie-wrapped. This included Open Carry. However, it does not include concealed carry. I verified this with those running the show. However, we have 3 different promoters and a couple of different locations. So sometimes the property owner and/or insurance company go more strict. But most times, the rules are basically the same.

I asked what about guns that are brought in, probably concealed, and are exposed. Those running the show said that ALL the vendors are instructed and very experienced with following the rules. If someone pulls out a gun, that was concealed, and it's not tie-wrapped and unloaded; then the vendor will inform the gun show staff who will contact a police officer who is strolling around. The person will be charged with Brandishing a weapon. And if they don't have a concealed permit, they will also be charged for illegally concealing a weapon.

That makes PERFECT sense to me. Of course you have the whiners who believe that they should be allowed to open carry at a gun show, but those are usually the extremists who thing any rules or laws whatsoever is an infringement. So at least for my city and local gun shows, it's been pretty much common sense. There are no signs at the door. Simply put, if you have a gun visible; including looking in cases and similar; they will be unloaded and tie-wrapped. If it isn't exposed or in a case, then they don't know about it. And if you pull out the concealed weapon FOR ANY REASON OTHER THAN SELF DEFENSE, you will be charged with brandishing a weapon or illegally concealing a weapon. Makes PERFECT sense to me.
