Gun draws attention on the shooting range.

My 9mm WinMag (9x29) would draw attention whenever I shot it. I was glad to let anyone shoot it who wanted to.

My wire-folding Glenfield Model 60 gets plenty of attention and more than a few laughs but is still one heck of an accurate gun!

When I pull out my 7.5" Ruger Super Redhawk at the indoor range, it draws absolutely no attention, since revolvers are fairly common there. The target grey finish further underscores its prosaic and undistinguished appearance.

Then I touch off one of my 250 gr. 1750 fps .454 Casull handloads. The muzzle flash, massive concussion and bits of foam drifting down from the ceiling panels immediately get the attention of everyone in the shooting bay, and they start to gather round.

It's a great way to make new shooting buddies. Problem is, I go through about a third of my handloads letting others shoot the gun.

Definitely my scoped T/C Encore with scope and Bullberry custom .44 mag 10" barrel. The looks grab them, but the accuracy holds their interest!

This package will shoot 5 shots of factory WW 240gr JHP into 1/2" @ 25 yds., and 5 into 1.33" @ 50 yds. off sandbags.

I'm LUCK enough to have a very pristine 6" M-27 that usually has someone comment about it, especially when I shoot Elmer Keith's original .357 Magnum loads.

Used to - had a Remington XP-100 in 7mm BR with a laminated thumbhole stock - when that was touched off, folks on either side - especially the smaller kids - were oohed and aahed a little

I know what you mean oneounce. I have an XP 100 in 35 Remington. When you light that up people notice.

One that definitely gets noticed though, my dad has a Magnum Research Lone Eagle in 30-06. You can feel that baby go off from about 20 yds away.

My 10 inch TC contender, 30-30 win., The range I go to allows about any gun to be fired on either the rifle or pistol range, so when the contender goes BANG, people on the pistol range stop and look.

Mike, is that same the .41 Magnum I once, by your leave, had the pleasure of firing (this was many, many years ago at the NRA range)? I can say truthfully that was the most gob-smacked, giddy, life-is-good joy I've had with a handgun. What a sweet wheel gun!!

Hell, now I want to buy one! :D

Yep, that's the only .41 Mag. I have, Mr. James.

IIRC those were factory loads you were shooting.

I've since come up with some lead handloads that are equally thumpy to the hand, but they don't have as much bark as the jacketed factory rounds.

But, since Remington .41 Mag. factory ammo is now $40 a box for 50 or better, I'll stick with my handloads.

My son has a 50AE Desert Eagle that he shoots. I load his ammo for him. It always gets attention when he lights it off.

I have shot it and don't care for it much. He does. Pretty impressive.

Geetarman:D

My 15" Encore Pro Hunter in 7mm-08 wakes people up... anybody unfamiliar with the gun has the same reaction when it goes off. First, they jump like they've been electrocuted, then they say something like "What in God's name...!"

Usually they want to shoot it. Everybody who shoots it giggles like schoolgirl. :)

I have a Plain Jane 629 (no dash) .44 Magnum,,,

But invariably when I haul it out,,,
Someone will come up and offer to let me shoot something of theirs if they can shoot a few rounds out of Jezebel.

I would have thought that .44 Magnum fever would be passe by now,,,
But apparently they aren't owned as commonly owned as I would have guessed.

I don't mind though,,,
Because of Jezebel I've gotten the opportunity to fire lots of different handguns.

Back when I had my Norinco Tokarev 7.62x25 pistol it would get attention whenever I touched it off. I had a cop in the bay next to me and I had been shooting it in 0mm configuration. When I switched it to 7.62x25 Tok. and fired a magazine, the cop in the next bay leaned around the corner and asked what the heck I was shooting! I showed him and let him play with it and also explained that it could defeat the lower level body armor and he was stunned.

I wish I had that gun back... I always wanted the .38 Super kit for it too. One of these days I will get one with all 3 barrels and be a happy man! :p Mine was the two tone silver and blue model with the thumb rest grips that I bought back when I was an FFL and you could by Norincos for almost nothing! Man I miss those days... :(
