Good .22LR pocket pistol for Mom

Just a quick note on something ive found with my .22
Remington bulk ammo is junk, the bullet even flops around in the case and how it stays in seems unlikely.
Ive found almost anything made by Federal is great stuff.
But for reliability CCI is what id use.

I don't want to rain on everyones parade, but get her a little Smith and Wesson or something similar in the revolver persuasion. I had the same situation and found out my mother was not able to pull the slide back without a lot of time and work. Everyone seems to think the pocket autos will fit everyone and they don't. Revolvers are more forgiving for most women, including mama.

This is your mom we're talking about right? You're getting advice from males. I'm a male too, but let's think from a woman's perspective.

Men are concern about gun size based on a man's pants pocket. Men's pants pockets are generally large, while woman's pants pockets are smaller.

WOMAN DON'T NEED BIG POCKETS BECAUSE THEY HAVE PURSES!!!

That said your mom still needs a small .22lr pistol. She can carry something bigger than what fits in your palm because she has more room in her purse. Obviously a Ruger MkIII is way to big. Many people were putting down the Walther P22 based on it's size. It is not a good pocket pistol, but it is a excelent purse pistol! Not saying you have to get a Walther P22, but you can go larger than the typiclal guy's pocket pistol.

About that .22 Walther....

Purse carry is bad. A purse is the primary target for a thief and, thus, the first thing they grab. It's a supremely bad tactic.

Please promise that you'll get that gun and shoot the daylights out of it for a bunch of rounds, ok? Lots of people love 'em and lots hate 'em. My friend has one that is the worst jamming gun I've ever experienced. Make sure the thing is reliable.

If the Walther doesn't work out: Those old .32 S&W Long revolvers are cheap, cheap, cheap and the cartridge is a bit stouter than any .22LR from a handgun barrel. Fiocchi's LRNs are 130 ft lbs and Sellier & Bellot sells a wadcutter rated at 120 ft lbs. That doesn't seem like much but those ratings are from a 7" SAAMI hadgun test barrel while .22LR numbers are gotten with a rifle test barrel. It's virtually recoiless, too; it's an easy shooting round. In the right gun, it kicks like a .22. You can even get a beautiful, old S&W Hand Ejector for $300 any day on Gunbroker.

This, at $150, will fit in a pocket, jamlessly lasting forever:

we took the Walther 22 out today and shot 400 rounds through it..without even a hint of problems. I was really surprised.... and it was very accurate.

I took the parents by on the way out and we looked at larger caliber guns. I think they are hooked! Honestly I am surprised they are as into this as they are.

I agree with you, but sadly it's still where the ladies are going to put their guns.
