Glocks accidently discharge all by themselves !

I'm glad I'm not the only one with this problem, my evil glocks accidently discharge all the time. Everytime I pull the trigger.(wink,wink). Idiots. It sounds to me like someone needs a refresher course in "Treat every gun as if it was loaded".

Let's see now, maate, to unload my Glock I rack the slide to kick out the one up the spout, drop the magazine and pull the trigger. DAMN! How did that one get in there...oh yeah, it was an accident!

What a load of bovine fertilizer!!

This is a common problem with Glocks, they clearly are a very dangerous firearm. I think no amount of training can make up for the Glock's deficincies. It's clearly time to rid the world of them.

All you people with those dangerous Glocks, please send them to me. I'll make sure they get a decent home. :D

Figures lie and liars figure. Does this mean all Aussies are stupid or they just hire stupid cops? Notice they said it happened most often to senior officers- habit patterns of form without substance. Seems like a lot of that is going around. Does this strike anybody as similar to the arguements used by Nader against the Corvair? Great car destroyed because it handled different then any other car and the public just wasn't able to learn to drive it successfully without unacceptable losses. Says who? Why any self appointed "expert" with an agenda to push? In this case as an excuse to rid the public of the desire to own one of these dangerous pistols that are so sophisticated, the expert cops can't handle them safely, let alone the average citizens. What horse potatoes! If the average citizen in Australia thinks that the average policeman is somehow smarter or wiser than they, then they deserve what they get. No, I don't mean that. That would be to deny a basic God given freedom to my fellow man and I am not willing to surrender that right up to anyone.

OT-The pictures in the article above show standard Glocks. There's an urban myth about specially modified Glocks that sport a frame mounted safety; supposedly made for the Tasmanian Police department. To me it's a hoax, think about it, Tasmanian Police Department.

So many pistols, so little money.

OK, call me old-fashioned but is the way this officer holding the pistol a little off. Look at his left thumb.????????

Telcolote,

Is this the urban legend Glock you're talking about?

I think those cops are pretty stupid. Two things I love in here: "Constable thought the gun was unloaded and it went off and fired a single bullet", and "Even though there is no magazine in the gun, its still possible for it to have bullet in the chamber". How dumb can people get. These cops do need disiplining. They need to be taught how to load and unload a gun properly. Also, when dealing with a gun you should not "think" it is unloaded. I have known that as long as I have been around guns. Shouldnt a cop know that? 1. Teach those assuie cops how to properly load and unload a firearm and 2. Any pistol whose had its slide racked, is going to have a bullet in the chamber. And any pistol that doesnt have a magazine disconnect will be able to fire that bullet.

See? That's why they want trigger locks. I have a Glock that I keep in a locked box. I can hear it jumping around in the box from time to time trying to go off. I try to keep it from seeing girl Glocks because it goes off every time. They are just not safe. I'm not sure even a trigger lock would help. These Glocks just hop around uncontrollably if they are not restrained.

Note to Australian papers: Feel free to copy.

New mantra for aussie heat:

FIRST drop magazine, THEN rack slide.

Chant 100 times, repeat as necessary...

Note the first sentence. The "high powered" version is particularly dangerous.

This makes me wonder...they already have a total handgun ban in Australia. What's the ulterior motive now??

I believe they don't have a total ban. I think you can own handguns if you are a member of a shooting club, but you cannot own them for defense.

I did not know that. If that's the case, then the ulterior motive is clear:

[sarcasm] "Not even senior police officers, with their superior judgement and training, can prevent these guns from going off. Therefore, they're not fit for use by the general populace."[/sarcasm]

Hm, the cop tried to put a trigger lock on his gun and set it off on accident!
Isn't that exactly what we have been saying about trigger locks? Too often, they set off the gun, which INCREASES the number of accidental discharges.

In case youa re wondering, I am refering to the sentence in the third paragraph.
