Glock's accidental discharge in royal presence

IMHO

All guns will go boom if you don't/can't keep your &^&% finger off the trigger! The idea that anyone needs more training in order to obey the simplest of safety rules is frightening and just the type of fodder the Anti's are looking for. You shouldn't pick up any firearm unless you have that much figured out.

Also (IMHO) Trusting your safety to a longer/stiffer trigger pull is analogous to assuming a gun is unloaded and therefore safe. A false sense of security at best and an ND waiting to happen.

I am not a dangerous psychotic!
I just play one at work.

The Glock non-recall described in that link that Sigarms229 provided is scary. It shows a company that, at least at that time, didn't want to admit fault. I say all of this, btw, as an admitted Glockophile. That they fixed the problem is good, but they should have issued a recall and replaced peoples ignition systems and frames. I wonder if they'll replace mine, since I have an early 2nd Generation model 19. (It's so old it actually has a tight chamber).

The one thing I will say in defense of the Suffolk County armorer in the story is that I would probably have done the same damn thing. I used to work at a gun shop that did service on the Beretta 92Ds of a certain Federal police agency, and we routinely were brought guns that had "gone off all by themselves. Honest!" I can't remember a case where anything was ever found wrong with the things. I remember some cases of guns that had received absolutely appalling abuse, but that is another story.
