Glock vs. M&P vs. SD9

Well Im finally going to buy my first handgun. Ive settled on the polymer pistols because 1911s are too expensive. Im trying to decide between the glock 19, m&p9 and sd9. I like the glock the least but everyone keeps saying glock. M&P9 felt great in the hand. And sd9 seems great for the price. I just cant find any gun shops that have them in stock. Opinions?

The Glock is proven, the M&P has had issues in 9mm. The Ruger is a little cheaper and has a safety if that is important. I'd buy the Glock. In fact I did X3. But I think the Ruger has potential especially if price is a consideration.

Screw ruger. They stopped selling semi autos in my state.

M&P.

Just as good as the Glock. If you like the way it feels, get it. I love the M&P 9 and I'm happy to put mine up against anyone who claims that they're not accurate. :)

It is true that some of the earlier models had some issues with not properly stabilizing bullets. That has been resolved and any new model you get should have 1 or 2 dimples on the underside of the barrel. This means it's the newer design and accuracy is fine. It doesn't matter if it's 1 or 2 dimples - that just indicates which machine is came off of.

The SD 9 is decent, but the M&P is better.

Thats what im leaning towards. I love the look of the serrations and the changeable backstraps.

California. Its not completely their fault but they could've easily retained a CA model of the SR series in each calibre.
It's 100% California's fault.
Kuddos to those manufacturers who refuse to produce a special "California compliant" model.

No its not. Why should the customers be punished? They could've just kept making the CA models as is. It would'nt have cut into profits the slightest.

Yeah but ppl kept telling me its unreliable and the glock 19 is better yadda yadda yadda.

I'm a fan of both, but those people are foolish.

Because maybe it would give the people more of a push to change California's ridiculous laws? It seems like they're starting to SLOWLY make some progress... but really, you should just come on over to AZ and get whatever you want.

Don't support the oppressive CA economy. ;)

It wouldn't do anything. There are plenty of people here who would love a de facto handgun ban. Those people far outnumber gunowners. Heck, the gop candidate for governor was anti gun for christ sake.

Most of us just cant pick up and move states. My entire family is here. My business is here.

Since when does a company have an obligation to continue to do business with a state that doesn't want their business?

It's okay to be sad when you can't buy certain firearms in California. But just like no one forces you to live there, no one should force a company to do business where they aren't wanted either.

Really?
You have access to Ruger's design and engineering budget and the cost of selling in California?

Hardly a month goes by that California doesn't pass another more restrictive firearms law. Keeping up with the laws passed by your state just isn't worth it. If it was, I'm quite sure Ruger shareholders would demand that their company return to California.

They still sell their revolvers here and have plans to roster more. If they werent selling guns here they wouldnt be paying hundreds of thousands of dollars to keep those guns rostered.

They dont need an engineering budget. All they needed to do was make zero changes to the guns they were already selling and they could've continued selling in CA. The lc9/lc380s and sr9s were selling really well when they were still on roster.

The laws arent retroactive. They wouldve been fine as is.

Of course everyone keeps saying glock, just like everyone says Iphone is the only smartphone. It's all they know...

Buy the M&P and never look back at the "there's only one" folks.

Or Pick up the Ruger, not a bad choice that's for sure.

I was a Glock guy for 20 years and now I'm an M&P guy. M&P9C, to be exact.

Just as accurate and reliable as the Glock, but a little more "modular". You can get one with a manual safety if you like. You can use 3 different magazines.

I have a slight preference for the Glock's trigger but overall prefer the M&P.

Both are solid guns.
