My 27 is the slickest operating pistol I own. Really smooth. In over three years of ownership it has been completely reliable. Mostly, I fire 135gr. PD Hydra-Shoks.

I own a model 20, [10mm] replaced the factory sites with = Hienie nite sites & also added [to replace the Glock factory plastic guide rod] Springco recoil reducer. Great combat & hunting weapon.

Plan to hunt whitetail deer with it later this year.

Smitty, it's my primary carry weapon (G-26) and I love it. It does look neat but the performance is why I got it.

Many complain about the short grip but there are two things you can do....

1) Pearce & Scherer (I believe) have a finger extensions

2) Glock has a +2 extension for the 9mm and will fit on the 26 mag.

I have both and like the +2 better. The pearce extension is a little too "hooky" on the end and sticks into my side when I bend.

I paid about $500.00 for mine in 1998. Expect to pay upwards of $600.00 for a used one if you live in MA. If not, $500.00-550.00 should suffice. You can get used ones for around $400.00.

I resisted Glocks for ten years--until I actually shot one. Now I'm a confirmed Glockaholic. :)

My G17, G21, G22, and G23 have all been 100% and a genuine pleasure to shoot.

My G20 is also fun to shoot, except that sometimes it stovepipes. However, I'm shipping it to Glock for an ejector upgrade, which I believe will take care of the problem.

I bought my first Glock back in 1986 when they were first imported, a G17. I sold it in 1988-1989 timeframe (wish I hadn't). I started up with firearms again early last year, and bought a G30. I figured it was the smallest Glock in .45 Auto that holds the maximum number of rounds (for today's magazines). I have since bought six more Glocks. My favorite is my G20, followed closely by my G30, G21, and G33. I pick up my G29 tomorrow. I also have a G19C and G26, but they are for the wife and kids to use. My 12-year-old sometimes likes to shoot my G20, though.

Problems with my Glocks? No breakages whatsoever, and reliability and accuracy is excellent.

Had a 21 that would constantly lock open with rounds in the magazine. I let others shoot it, with the same results. One range master said Glocks were perfect and could not explain the slide lock problem after firing it.
Had that not been a problem, I would have kept it. It was VERY accurate and I would have tried to have the problem fixed had I not needed cash at the time.

I have owned the following glocks

1. 27 first glock and a total lemon. Turned me off of glocks for a while.

2. 17 good 9mm police trade in gun bought at a steal. I liked it 100% reliable so so accuracy 4 inch range at 25 yards.

3. Glock 31 best fighting handgun in my collecton in my opinion. 100% reliable and good accuracy nearly as good as my sigs. in the 2 inch range at 25 yards.

4. Glock 20 good gun not 100% with winchester silver tips however I had a malfunction in a gual coarse with this gun before. One in about 300 rounds is not acceptable to me. The pistol is reliable with my reloads.

5. Not realy mine but rather my departments 21 in 45 acp. This gun is great I shot a perfect score on the last qual with it and I normally score expert with this gun at the very least. Very mild recoil. 100% reliable. The only glock I have that I like more is the 31.

After owning two G-22's and a G-21 I feel Glock's are overrated. The first G-22 jammed to much. I believe it was the mags. The second G-22 never jammed but I didn't have it that long. The G-21 was of early 90's vintage. It was an ok pistol but the mags and recoil spring started to get tired so I sold it. I didn't like the fact that I couldn't shove it in my waistband. Fanny packs were a no-no also (with a round in chamber). I also had it "chamber empty" as a housegun. Gee, those were just to many demands. Best, J. Parker

****Regarding Slides "locking" open while mag is still full****

Were any of you using aftermarket mags??? I had problems with aftermarket mags, I would never use them.

I had a 23 and I hated it! it wouldn't drop the mag or accept a new mag without a fight. I cant use a gun I cant reload during a firefight.

It also had what the box said were adjustble sights? they were plastic and had two settings up and down (and finally off).

I also didn't like the grip, it got too slippery when it was wet or my hands were sweaty, I think thats why they invented the slip on grips, all in all too many "little things" to make me want to keep that gun when there are so many other good guns out there.!

I have a G19 & G21, both have proven to be accurate & reliable. IMHO, excellent guns!

BrokenArrow, I couldn't help but notice you stated you've had the most problems w/ the 17's, followed by the 22's. The least w/ the 19/23.

In the "who makes the best automatics" thread, it was the exact opposite. "I've had the most reliability probs w/ GLOCKs, the 19/23 more so than the G17/22." Stop this BA, your going to give Gaston himself a complex.

Also, I'm sad to see you let go of your G21, I remember you saying not to long ago that the 21 loaded w/185gr GD or GS was your prefered home def. gun. That "CURRENTLY" still is my choice of gun & loads, though that could change at any minute! What are you using now, & did those two G30 KB threads on GT have anything to do w/ your decision?

Good thing there's a variety of quality guns, not to mention some good calibers. Otherwise, I don't know what I'd do. fun isn't it!

Best To All,
long shot!

I currently have three.

G21 stays on my headboard all night long and gives me that warm fuzzy secure feeling when I look up and see the Meps glowing back at me.

G30 Goes everywhere I go, except the darn post office, keeps my G21 company at night.

G26 First Glock I ever bought. I wish I'd overcome my plastiphobia years ago. All three are completely reliable with all but the worst ammo I feed them. Now if I can just con the wife into a G20 for Christmas I'll be in heaven.

Remember, Wherever you go, there you are.

I had a G17 when they first came out in '85 or '86, they were $295 from RSR in 3 quantity. I bought a G19 when they came out. When the .40 hit the market I bought a G22 in 1991, a G23 in 1994(?), sold off the 17 and 19, a G27 and G30 in 1998.

The 30's nice, huh Jeff....

All I have is a G22. I probably fired 100 rounds through it at most. It is my baby. :-) The Beretta gets carried more.

I carry my 21 and 31 at times in a Galco fanny pack that has an internal holster that covers the trigger guard. I would not ever just shove a pistol in my waistline no matter what it was.

Have had over 12 Glock's the only one that would not run right is a 30. Glock has certainly been of no help with it. One of their Smyrna armorers was up this way in the early spring & went thru it @ one of the larger gunshops here. He also shot it, said he ran an entire box of shells thru same, strangely he did not invite me back to their indoor range, still does the same thing, but then again caught him flat out lying to others that weekend also. Guess this is one of the differences between an "Armorer" & a Pistolsmith?

The problems I experienced occured with factory mags. I tried it with plus 2 adapters and without. It would still lock open, and no I did not limp wrist the gun (just in case that was the next question).
Someone here once suggested that it may have been a weak spring on the slide stop/release. I wish I knew that then because I might have kept it.
