Georgia Arms reloaded ammo - why buy?

cdnn has 9mm 124 gr nato for 13.99 a box

Yah - but Walmart has RWS 124 gr for $12.97 per box. It cranks at 1181 fps which is only 4 fps slower than the NATO advertised at CDNN. It still comes out cheaper even paying the local sales tax here even at 1000 rounds....

1000 rounds of 124 gr Georgia Arms Canned heat - with shipping - is the cheapest but I don't know what the fps is...I am just wondering if the RWS is the best deal for me...it certainly is convenient enough. I have shot it before and it is a solid ammo....

RWS ammo from Wal-Mart is banned at many local indoor ranges around here. The closest range to me actually has an empty box of it, flattened and taped to the front of the cash register with a sign that says, "NOT ALLOWED ON OUR RANGE." I think it's steel or partial steel bullet stuff.

Lots of indoor ranges have ammo restrictions and the RWS fodder is front and center on many of them.

My range is in my back yard....or the local outdoor range....so it is a non issue to me. It is a lead core bullet, steel jacket with copper plating. I have found it to be a good, accurate ammo.

But back to Georgia Arms - has ANYONE ever Chrono'd it or heard what it's fps is?

"My question remains - why the attraction?"

I've been using GA ammo for years and years.

I hate Wal-Mart. The total experience is a boring, aggravating pain in the rear. The long walk from the parking lot, the long walk through the store, the lack of help, the seemingly blind people stumbling around pushing overloaded carts, the lines at the registers. Why would anybody voluntarily go to Wal-Mart. To save a couple of bucks? My time is more valuable than a couple of bucks.

So I happily buy GA ammo at the locals gun shows. It's good quality stuff and there's usually an excellent selection. And the gun show is closer than Wal-Mart.

I think GA ammo prices crept up during the recent ammo crisis, and they haven't responded to the drop in prices as availability improved following the hump. This makes them uncompetitive in certain value lines, like 9mm target ammo.

I buy 9mm Federal for under $10/box at Walmart, and it has great accuracy in my guns. GA .44 mag Gold Dots are still high quality and an excellent value. I will continue to buy them.

Spodwo - I get RWS for $10.50 shipped. (total price after shipping/no tax).

Good find! Funny - I almost ordered online ammo from them once...I must have forgot. I noted the makarov prices too...

Then this even further poses the question - Why "reloaded" ammo at Georgia arms unless it is a better and hotter load...

As far as "hassle" at Walmart - I frequently go there to grocery shop...so picking up ammo there isn't anymore of a hassle then going to any grocery store. Just sayin'...

You sure about the price still? It seems Walmart raised their price of Federal by $1.00 with Tula now the cheapest 9mm at Walmart. It's at the price point that Federal was...

John, I agree. I order on line because Wal Mart is a pain in the rear. There is usually no decent parking. So, I end up walking half way across the parking lot. Then I get inside and walk to the back of the store, where I wait for thirty minutes. Even if you take time to walk over to the TLE or electronics and get them to page somebody, you wait twenty minutes. Eventually some guy with more attitude than brains shows up and shows off his excellent customer service skills.

When you finally get the ammo in hand you might get to check out in sporting goods. Then again, most likely, you will have to walk to the front of the store and wait in line. There you either get stuck behind the person with three weeks of groceries or the person who wants to price check everything in their cart.

I always leave Wal Mart at least aggravated. Usually I leave in some form of bad mood.

With Georgia Arms, Ammunition to Go, The Sports Man's Guide, and Cheaper Than Dirt, I get a pain free and relatively cheap shopping experience.

AA +1, and know you know why I avoid W/M whenever I possible! The small amount of money I save is just not worth the overall cost.

I make a conscious effort to avoid China Mart. I feel like some of the mediocrity attempts to rub off on me every time I go there. :o

I have had excellent results with new/reload .357 Mag and .308 rounds from GA Arms, both of which were cheaper than typical commercial loads. I don't buy 9mm from them however as there are other great bulk deals out there online.

Several years ago I shot nothing but GA reloads, however I can now buy Brown Bear for $170 a thousand and find it as good as anything for range ammo. Yea I know it's steel cased but all my handguns love it.

Georgia Arms provides me with good clean practice ammo. Until recently pistol ammo from Gander Mountain was not a bargain and Walmart still does not seem to have 38 spec or 44 spec.

Georgia arms

No disrespect intended, Georgia arms is a fine company. Just call them and see for yourself. I have been using their pistol and rifle ammo for over ten years. I buy mainly precision plus ammo for rifles and have the best results than any other brands. Yes they may be a little more expensive, but you have to remember they are a small company competing against large ammo companies. For me anyway, I do not have a problem supporting a mom and pop business that makes ammo right here at home in the good old USA.

Is ALL Georgia Arms ammo reloaded? They sell 45 Auto Rim. That's not the most common ammo out there, and it can't be fired from semi-autos which spew spent cases everywhere that somebody can sweep up later, either. It's strictly revolver ammo, and spent cases stay in the cylinder until they are manually ejected. Because of that they are easy to save, and I save mine. Given the price of brass these days, who doesn't? It makes me wonder where Georgia Arms finds enough used 45 Auto Rim brass to commercially reload 45 Auto Rim?

I often buy from Georgia Arms when at the gun shows. Not 9mm, since I can get that cheaper elsewhere, as mentioned plenty already, but .357 and .44 mag practice ammo is cheaper for me there and always performs well for me.

Really, aksrule?
I live in Philly and whenever i get out of the city I usually stop at a walmart and they usually have federals 9mm in stock, indeed, at 10.47 per box of 50

The Value may not be at the low end.

Check out the price differece between Gold Dot 124+p 9mm Factory v.
the GA 124+p 9mm (I believe they use the Gold Dot bullet for this load).

This is what I use for HD.

Big Difference.

BTW, some folks would rather support a small, local company than the MEGA MARTS.

Peachy

I like the +P .45 gold dot ammo they had... This stuff last time I bought was about 40 cent a round for new loaded JHP.. Also they had the best supply/lead time when the .45 stuff was hard to find a year or so ago.
