TFB just posted a couple articles about them...

Seems the changes are...

No finger grooves
Ambi slide stop
Beveled mag well
Hi viz mag follower
Slide beveled at the front
Ion bond finish over the nitride
New rifling (button maybe)
Back to two pin configuration

There may be some internal changes, but I do not know those.

Seems overall minor changes, but likely to be appreciated by many.

All it really is is the lack of finger grooves. The beveled mag well is the least important, I've never had an issue inserting a magazine in a Glock quickly.

It's less of an improvement than the Gen 3 going to the Gen 4.

I think some of the other changes were done just to round out a list of changes, so "no finger grooves" wasn't the extent of it.

While minor overall, the changes made are good ones.

In my opinion and preference in a handgun...

This is the best version of a Glock...

But it is not game changing or spectacular, or even innovative in any way.

So now, they have taken a good pistol, and made it with the features most want.

Took em long enough.

And I still prefer my M&P for the grip angle, and better feel in hand.

The Gen 5 still has a squarish grip and steeper angle.

I think the people who want a manual safety are a smaller minority... So I doubt that will happen.

There are aftermarket options I think.

Is glock gonna be like the phone makers and put out a new gen every year now?
I mean it looks like inovation might have stagnated here.

I wonder if they'll stop making the gen3's after the gen5's get rolling.
Seems like Gen3 was a where the Glock peaked.

Agreed.
A friend was selecting a G34 for IDPA.
In side by side comparison she took the Gen 3 over Gen 4.

I don't like the finger grooves but would rather have them removed from a Gen 3 than to beta test a Gen 5.

I'll probably wait a year before picking one up.

Supposedly the reliability and accuracy were improved as well. They increased the Mean Rounds Between Failures and they now say 4" at 50 yds. Time will tell if it comes true.

If you look at the parts photos it appears that they changed the trigger spring setup and the striker block as well. This is a different animal.. I tend to be an early adopter to everything. I love having the latest and greatest. I am going to do my best to wait for the bugs to be shaken out of this one....I doubt that I'll be able to control myself. LOL.

Yea from what I heard/read none of the current aftermarket parts will work in terms of triggers. Which will be unfortunate for some.

Perfect?

Sorry, maybe I misunderstood the word perfect.

Now that we are on generation 5 of the Glock pistol line does that mean the first 4 generations were not perfect?

Now don't get me wrong, I like GLock, heck I carry one.

Words have meaning, drives me crazy when someone advertises a boat as unsinkable. If it is really unsinkable how about I bring a concrete truck to the dock and we will start pouring, and the unsinkable boat will sink.

Good yes, perfect............apparently not.

Saw a write up somewhere. A lot of good stuff, significant internal difference, so it says.

Evolutionary.

To be fair I don't think they use the "Perfection" line anymore. Now it seems to be "Confidence".

While I may roll my eyes right along with you, at the end of the day it's advertising. Is Mercedes really the best or nothing? Is Gillette the best a man can get? Of course not. They're just slogans.

I'd like to see them actually make the gun so it can be taken apart without pulling the trigger. I can't tell you how many bullet holes are in the ceiling of the Boston Police Dept. gun range classroom!!!

I already have a gen 4 I got a bit over a year ago. I will be fine with that.

I don't like Glock enough to run out for a new one.

If they can show significant improvement in the trigger feel and things, maybe someday.

I wish they had a better undercut on the trigger guard. If I could change one thing on my Gen 3s it would be that. I'll have to suck it up and have someone do it.
