Although the Gay Community too often is sided with a Liberal agenda, you may be pleased to hear that many of us are proud owners of firearms. Our local bar- the Pink Lily, was often a target for attacks by local Biker Gangs until some of us started bringing along our 'pieces'. Unsuprisingly the unwashed rogues now leave us alone, mostly. Some, sharing our love of leather and guns, have taken a bath, shaven their beards and joined us !

PLEASE, think about if it's worth it before ya'll reply to this one guys. I know what's gonna happen.

Bertie, be prepared for some serious flames.

And if this isn't a troll?

No reason to start flaming. No one said anything antagonistic. What's the problem?

TFL has always welcomed supporters of the Second. That's kinda the whole point.

(for some reason we even welcome antis)

I've always said if people are law abiding then why should I care what their sexual orientation is? If Bertie is a troll looking for antagonistic gay bashing he came to the wrong place. Welcome.

So many pistols, so little money.

Why would you all assume Bertie is a troll? Why, just because this is his first post, and his profile lists him as a "hairdresser" who lives "downtown," and his post perpetuates the myth that, if you get to close to gay people, you will somehow mysteriously "switch over"?

Why indeed? ;)

If nothing else, this "post" will be a chance for TFL to take the high ground and not jump at obvious bait.

Welcome, Bertie.

I like it! Now we can righteously accuse the anti-self defense groups of working to leave Gays defenseless to bashing by violent thugs. Also, the more people who own guns the harder it is to disarm us or depict us as a small group of neanderthals.

No problems here, it's just that I thought that the topic title "Guns For Gays" was an offer to trade, maybe a buy back scheme from Kalifornia ;)

Just joshing Bertie, welcome to TFL.

Welcome Dirty Berti to the TFL where you are free to express your views on firearm related topics. Most of us do bathe regularly and don't plan on being recruited at the Pink Lily. Nobody checks out my hideaway piece.

God forbid that anyone needs to use their weapons, but self-defense is a natural human instict and the second ammendment provides an equalizer against the more anti-social types. Unfortunately, in my area, it is impossible to carry legally. I hope that your friends that carry have been taking advantage of firearms training.

Gay, Straight, Black, White,Christian, Moslem,Jew What @#*&^%* difference does it make as long as you are law abiding?

Preferences, colour and sexual orientation have nothing to do with the Second Ammendment. Just as these dont matter when you have to defend your country.

Welcome to TFL Dirty Bertie!
Regards,
Anand.

Thank you all, that was far better than I expected. I look forward to making a colorful contribution to your discussions. Look forward to getting to know you all better - especially Duck Hunt - Quack Quack !

Dirty Bertie, a week or so I made the comment that, after going to the gay bars with friends and relatives years ago, I thought that gays especially would want to be armed.
Glad to hear that you and your friends are.
In your opinion, how can we get a group with as much media visibility as gays to endorse the right to keep and bear arms, and the idea that self-defense is the right of everybody?

Dick

I always liked going into gay bars because I got a lot of free drinks. You just have to know what your limit is...and stick to it!!!

Welcome to the board, DB.

Are you an afficianado of the 1911 or go with one of those foreign designs? How many rounds are you shooting weekly? How widespread would you estimate the ccw is amongst the gay population?

The guy who cuts my hair is ULTRA GAY.

Last time I was in, he wanted recommendations for a gun that he could carry while making night deposits at the bank.

The next time I'm in, at the beginning of July, I'll find out if he bought it or something else, and if he has, I'm going to tell him we're going shooting so I can check him out on the finer points of shooting it safely.

I may not like his sexual orientation, but as far as I'm concerned, that's his business. And I'm going to treat him like any other law-abiding, but new, gunowner.

Beware the man with the S&W .357 Mag.
Chances are he knows how to use it.

Welcome DB! The Second Amendment applies to every blessed one of us irrespective of gender, race, or sexual orientation. While the gay lifestyle may be foreign to me, I know from living in California that wherever the gay population chooses to live, properties are upgraded, the restaurants are great, decorators of taste abound, the arts flourish, and people are civil and kind. No one should ever have to suffer the indignity of "bashing" let alone assault without the appropriate means of self defense. But learn your lessons well when it comes to firearms, especially safe handling. Shoot lots of rounds and shoot often.

Several gay-specific gun forums and mailing lists were started after the likes of Bowers' board made them feel very unwelcome.

I am happy that TFL, by contrast, is extending the same friendly welcome that it would offer to any other new visitor.

Stick around, chime in, have a good time.

Welcome!

First thing, I'm a "specialist" in the California CCW fight (in favor of shall-issue, instead of the current "discretionary" male bovine excrement).

Getting gays into the CCW fight could be a major factor in the overall struggle, especially in San Francisco.

See, in theory you need "good cause" to score the permit. In reality, issuance is usually more about who you know, who's campaign you've contributed to, etc. Due to a growing pattern of being specifically targetted, gays become an excellent "test case" for CCW issuance.
