G43 - Tough Triggers!

One of the best things about Glocks are they're easy to work on. Check youtube for the .25cent Glock trigger job. And, yes, the trigger connector mod helps lower the trigger weight, too.

Glocks are the easiest pistol to do a trigger job on, in my opinion.

It must be me, but I dry fired one Four times a few days ago. The 43's trigger felt better to me than a stock gen 4 trigger.

The 43 trigger never felt right to me. I thought it would be the same as the 42 but it's a bit heavier and vaguer. The 42 trigger is actually pretty decent, despite its pull weight.

I am always amazed at different perceptions regarding issues like this. 5.5 - 6.5 lbs is an "insanely stout trigger pull" ??? To each his own.....and I mean no disrespect whatsoever....but that statement strikes me as flat out crazy.

But, as I said, perceptions differ.....WIDELY.

Trigger quality perception is very individual. So much so that I've concluded that reports from anonymous Internet gunboard folk are close to useless, unless the consensus is skewed overwhelmingly one way or the other.

I have to be the judge, for my own use.

carried 23 for 20 years, own 27 for most of them too, now a 43 is small carry option. never noticed any difference in the 43 trigger pull, but can relate to "chicken finger" when staging trigger at qualification range. longer I take to pul it, the tougher it seems to be. I can shoot 250 rounds no problem. or stage one box of 50 and finger will be sore.

I often carry my G42 and never felt the trigger pull was a hinderance, shot a 43 the other day and although not by any means light the pull was accomplished without undue concern and was crisp at the let off. No complaints here.

I just got a G43 a couple weeks ago and I dont mind the trigger. Im actually glad its a little heavier because I bought this little puppy just for putting in my pocket. It gives me a little piece of mind so Im cool with it. BTW I love the G43.

I own 8 diff Glocks but no 42 or 43. I have tried the trigger on a few 43's in the gun shop. The ones that I pulled the trigger on were quite a bit heavier than any other Glock that I've ever handled, not "perception" but reality.

i don't own or naver have owned any Glock firearm, so don't burn me for asking this. Isn't a glock a glock a glock? Could you not just put a standard trigger from a different model, or even just the springs and have your normal glock feel? I thought every model had pretty much the same trigger system except possibly size, and the spring could be easily changed.

I own most of the 9mm Glock models, as well as a couple of 42's. Other than a couple with threaded barrels, and some stippling, all are box stock otherwise. The 42's triggers do seem a little heavier, if you focus on the triggers when dry firing/shooting them, but if you dont focus on the triggers, you dont notice them, and they are no more difficult to shoot well with than any of the others.

Thats pretty much the same with most triggers too, for that matter, even those of different types. If your so worried on the trigger, that its affecting your shooting, you likely need more work overall. Yet, the trigger seems to always be the scapegoat for many.

Im not saying there isnt a small acclamation period when going from one type to the other, there can be, and especially if you dont shoot the different types often, but its still not anything near as bad as you are usually told.

I shot a 43 a few weeks ago and I thought the trigger was really nice. Not too heavy, smooth, crisp break. It was a rental gun with thousands or tens of thousands of rounds through it though.
I used to dry-fire an M95 Nagant to practice the basics of trigger control. Great training IMO. Everything seems really light and smooth in comparison.

I had a Police Positive that had an absolutely amazing trigger though. I shot my Kahr T9 with a much longer and heavier trigger much better. Both it my hand quite well.

Maybe the OP's pistol has an unusually heavy trigger. Even two pistols of the exact same model made in the same factory on the same day can vary somewhat.

I understand all the hyperbole of the stout trigger pulls on glocks, especially when it takes 4 men and a grandmother to work the D/A trigger pull on a S&W revolver.

The 43 definitely has a heavier trigger pull than normal Glocks. Mine was 8-9lbs. I put the Ghost Edge connector in mine and it was very similar to my 19. Right around 4.5-5 lbs.

I shot these groups offhand, at 10 yards, sighting in one of my 42's. The ragged holes were multiple magazines worth (2-3 each). The holes surrounding them, were when I started to get bored, and got a little more "energetic". :)

The group under the chin, was basically a point shoot mag dump a little closer.

The 42's, and Im going to assume the 43's as well (I havent shot one yet), shoot just as well as their bigger brothers and sisters, and out to about the same distances. Their triggers are in no way a hindrance to shooting them well.
My wife picked up a very dry and dirty 42 range gun, stock everything...... 6 in the X Ring @ 10 yds and said, "it's OK, I guess". I laughed hysterically! Planning on her trying the 43 next time we go, before buying 4. One issue my daughter had was a few FTE before the armorer told me about the limp writing issues. Once she tightened up.... Solid shooting.

Im actually glad its a little heavier because I bought this little puppy just for putting in my pocket.

No offense, but this is why Glock probably made the trigger a little heavier.

People who will be stuffing the 43 into their pocket or handbag without a holster are asking for a negligent discharge.

If anyone I knew told me they were pocket carrying a glock without a holster our relationship would immediately turn long distance.
There aren't any guns I would carry without a holster, but a Glock would be asking for it.

Great thread. I was beginning to wonder why my first shot of each G43 mag felt "laggy," almost DAO. I think that while a Glock, the smaller G42/43 has a moderately different trigger than its bigger siblings. I love this gun though and alternate carrying with my G17 depending upon the weather and what I'm wearing. I shoot +P with both.
