G19 vs. Revolver, first gun

Yes the G19 really fits great. I'd like to want an XD 40, and all the neat stuff in the case, but it was love at first grip between me and that Glock. I did look at a Ruger SP 101 today, it was pretty, it felt ok, but not like the g19. So I will just stop being so impressionable and worrying so much and go shoot the G19 being sold.

I've fired 1000-ish rounds through a Glock 34, and the only malfunctions I had were caused by me (I failed to seat the mags correctly a few times).

Unless you are prone to limp-wristing, a Glock is one of the most reliable pistols I know of. To put it plainly, I'd trust my life to the reliability of a well-maintained Glock. (I don't like the trigger pull or the grip angle, but that's a personal issue.)

ok I'm gonna stop before I look like a lomit

oh wait I am a lom

Can you explain limp wristing in greater detail? don't I want the gun to be one with my forearm? like my fist would be if I was using it?

Isn't it more of an action with ones wrist which interferes with the action of the slide, rather than the extent of force one exerts on the grip?

Limp wristing is essentially not having a good enough grip on the weapon so that it loses energy during it's cycle. If you have a nice tight grip on the handgun it prevents this. I have a firm grip and don't bend my elbows to absorb recoil. My upper body is tight when I shoot and I bend at the waist to absorb any energy. This is very similar to shooting my rifle in the Marines. Hope that makes sense.

So basically controlling the movement of the gun rather than allowing the gun to control your movement interfering with aim and also negatively interfering with the momentum of the slide resulting in an improperly or incompletely loaded round?

Yes, it causes the round not to chamber properly. Just control the amount of upward flip with a good grip and you should be good.

she said she wouldn't be able to use it.

didn't want to come to find the woman I loved killed by my own gun.

it just gets worse from there.

Maybe you should consider a shotgun. My wife just spent $400 cash on a like-new Rem 870 Express 7-shot 12 ga with a SureFire flashlight replacement forearm and a pistol-grip folding stock. Anybody caught in that SureFire beam's gonna need a seeing eye dog... :D

Thats good info, about the limp wristing, thanks. practice practice practice.

As for any offense, absolutely none taken, whats life without a lom? I didn't know this was a firearms forum and a dating site, but it doesn't bother me a bit ;)

I took a buddy with bad wrists to the range. We fired handguns for several hours. He could not shoot more than a few rounds through my G22 before it jammed. I grabbed it, shot it, no problems. He grabbed it back, jam!! We went back and forth amazed. It consistantly jammed when he shot it. There are probably other factors that cause them, and maybe they don't always jam. But it's a known fact that loose wrists cause problems with Glocks.

The solution is to get the best 9mm out there, the Hk P7....
