Full Size Concealed Carry??

I have carried a Glock 17/22 IWB alot. I use a blade tech IWB holster. It's not that difficult, you just have to dress the part. When it comes time to "need" it you will be glad you brought along a full size gun instead of a .32 or .380 in your pocket.

I carry a 4", K-frame Smith & Wesson revolver, in a OWB pancake holster from time to time. It sticks out from under a sweat shirt somewhat, but a jacket covers it easily.

Maybe not "full-size" but I've been carrying a steel Commander sized 1911 since the weather has cooled off.

And on occasion, a 4" N-frame in either .41 Mag or .45LC.

Sure. I often carry a Smith model 629 in a chest/bandolier holster when I go hiking around my hometown in Alaska. It's sort of expected; one time I had a nice couple stop and ask me where my gun was when I hadn't donned it yet at a trailhead.

Most people would say "it's for bears", but really I started carrying after my father shot at a pack of wild dogs that came too close. One shot, one kill, and the rest ran away. From a distance we saw them come back about half an hour later.

Bear spray is for bears, big handguns are for wild dogs & dangers that have fewer legs. Once in a while I pack a little Airweight instead, but if you can carry openly with a more supportive holster, there's no real point in short changing yourself.

Today I carried a full sized Springfield 1911 all day IWB in a Durham Concealed Technology holster held up by a Beltman belt. I wore a polar fleece type shirt, but have worn this set up many times under just a T shirt. 1911s hide well for a "big gun". Sometimes I carry an XD45C in a Crossbreed, or a CZ75 in a Hazel Leather or High Noon.
Stories? Hmmm - don't have any real scary go ones. There was one occasion when a buddy of mine (that did not carry at that time) had an issue with his truck in a "bad" part of Birmingham. I went to go help him out and I was glad I was wearing the XD45 vs a pocket gun. The event inspired said buddy to finally get his pistol permit. :D

My EDC is an M&P9FS which is about the same size as what you are looking at. I’ve also been known to carry a full size 1911. The barrel length doesn’t matter much at all in regards to concealment. It’s all about the grip frame. Think about the difference between the grip frame on weapon A and weapon B. That’s really all you are changing in so much as concealability.

In a market that seems to be driving more and more toward lighter, thinner, smaller guns, I’m moving in the opposite direction. The common thread seems to be that people don’t want to be inconvenienced by their carry choice. This is understandable, it just isn’t my school of thought. I like feeling a full size gun on my hip. I like knowing that I’m not sacrificing handling or accuracy in my weapon choice. I also like to shoot what I carry, a lot. That makes me gravitate toward the larger guns.

They conceal fine. IMHO “width” is the big one. Barrel length to me is nothing. A grip isn’t hard to hide worn right IWB, and the weight is a complete non-factor (I get so tired of hearing gun so and so is too heavy for carry) with a good belt and holster. IWB I’m not even sure the “good belt” is really needed. I have good gun belts and the M&P carries just as well with a good solid leather dress belt from Sears. OWB would be a different story.

I carry IWB at 2:30.

I don't know what a Glock 22 is compared to a 1911 but I carry a full size 1911 as one of the 3 guns I carry most often

Whenever practical in terms of the weather and mode of dress (which is most the time), I carry a SIG 220 Carry in an iwb holster, comfortably and well-concealed, on a regular basis.

I carry a Para P14-45 in a Milt Sparks VM II.
Conceals very well with the correct clothing.

14+1 rounds of 230gr Winchester XST's

As some people ask why so much fire power, what are you afraid of ?

I reply " NOTHING " ;)

Does anyone conceal carry a full size handgun, around the size of a Glock 22?

Even bigger: a 4" S&W Model 28 Highway Patrolman. And I carry it IWB, using a LoboGunleather holster on a 1.5" Beltman bullhide belt. I've got it on my hip as I type this actually. It doesn't disappear like my 4" Ruger Police Service Six or 2.5" S&W Model 66, but it's not uncomfortable and it is concealable with the right clothing.

I shoot this 28 better than any other handgun I've tried or owned, so I carry it whenever possible.

I have been known to carry a Glock 22 in an Uncle Mike's IWB neoprene holster. Very comfortable and easy to conceal with a jacket or sweatshirt. I also have a canted Galco OWB holster and an Uncle Mike's black nylon gun belt for it. Very sturdy rig.

I also have been known to carry a full sized 1911 in a Galco Avenger holster (OWB) and Triple K Ranger gun belt. Also very comfortable, a bit harder to conceal, but it can be done.

In the summer I carry a S&W J frame +P .38 special in my front pocket in a DeSantis pocket holster, and a Ruger LCP .380 in a small fanny pack, or in my front or sometimes back pocket.

Yes, sometimes I do carry both. Why? Why not?

Thanks for the replies...i think ive decided on my taurus 24/7 pro ds .40 and an Uncle Mikes IWB Holster (seems like a great holster for the money $12.99)
;)

I carry a Walther P99 AS.... It is about 1" shorter on the barrel and slide than a 1911. Handle is the same length. I carry in a Cross Breed Holster and a brand new Bullhide belt. :D (Love the new belt! Christmas Present!)

Next purchase.... Colts 1911 full size....

Most of the time I carry a fullsizedM&P 45 10+1 of .45 ACP. Times I am not carrying it is when I unable to dress around the gun. Then I have a Glock 26, and a P64 in 9mm mak for those rare occasions.

Walther P99 AS in .40 S&W (of the hundreds of guns I have owned, these are my favorite). I can drive tacks with it at 50 feet and it fits great between my front and rear pockets on my right hip.
