Full Size Concealed Carry??

Does anyone conceal carry a full size handgun, around the size of a Glock 22? If so what kind of gun and holster do you use and maybe some reasons or even stories of why you carry a full size?

(Reason-I'm thinking about carrying my 24/7 PRO .40)

Thanks

I carry two...everyday all day...a 4006 smith on the right in a open top tagua belt holster...and ...a 4506 smith on the left in a open top tagua belt also.

Been carrying G22 and full size HK USP .40 in a uncle mikes neoprene holster. Clips in pants lumbar area. Comfortable and easy in winter. Might change to different carry in summer.

My primary carry is a full sized Kimber Custom II 1911. With a good belt and holster and only a slight modification to the clothing that I normally wear I can hide it under just a t-shirt.

i carry a glock 17 with a bagmaster IWB holster and have no problems with it. the holster is very comfortable on ~2hr car trips, and just lounging around or out and about.

I carry a g21 with an uncle mikes IWB holster usually, but I also have a blackhawk serpa that I carry fully tilted forward.. The IWB holster conceales best, but the serpa is more comfy..

Now, that being said,, I am 6'5'' 300 lbs,, so I can conceal a full size weapon..

I occasionally carry a Beretta 96 in an inside the waistband holster at the 3 or 4 O clock position. The only time I have trouble carrying my Beretta is when I sit down, you really notice the extra length then; but just walking around? I barely notice a difference from my subcompacts.

Most of the time I carry a 4" 357 Magnum or 38 Spec revolver. When I carry a semi-auto pistol all are full size, Beretta 92F, Colt Gov't Model Series 70 MK IV, Sig Pro SP2340. I have no problem concealing them.

Over the past forty years...

My primary concealed weapons have been Colt Government Models of one variation or other; or K and N frame revolvers. Nearly always in a belt holster, just behind strong side hip.

Wear real clothes.

There ya go!

Ive carried full sized pistols, a double reload, and a second gun, pretty much every day for the last 35 years. These days, its a Glock 17 in either a Milt Sparks VMII or a Blade Tech kydex IWB, a double reload, as well as a Glock 26, mostly in a Desantis ankle holster, but sometimes a Glaco Executive.

As Archie said, dress for success, and all will be easy and well.

I doubt you'll see much difference between the two. I have both, and the 19's really dont get out much other than the range. Now if you go to the 26, there is a noticeable difference between it and the 17.

Full size, all steel, 1911, 8+1, in an IWB Cactus, custom holster & belt. When it is on, . . . sometimes forget it is even there, . . . comforting and comfortable, . . . to say nothing of having 9 X 240 gr of .45ACP along for the ride.

Take a look at it on the front page of my web site.

May God bless,
Dwight

I occasionally carry a Glock 22 OWB using a Galco FLETCH holster. It isn't hard to do, but you really have to dress around that gun. A sweatshirt or light jacket will cover it pretty easy but the biggest problem is that gun is THICK. Summer carry, while not impossible is a lot harder to do when covering garments are just too hot to wear.

Usually my main full size carry is a 5" all steel 1911. It too is typically my winter carry but it's a lot easier to pull off due to it being very thin.

As a full time carry gun, I'd suggest something a bit smaller than a full sized piece. It's not that you can't do it, it's just that you really have to dress around a larger gun to make it happen and there will be days that you simply don't feel like doing that. In the summer months, it will be much harder to do and a you'll be inclined to leave your gun at home. A gun that's left at home isn't much help.

Again, if you are going to start carrying I'd suggest a smaller gun that will work for both winter and summer carry. If you've already got that covered, a full sized is fine just be prepared to dress around it.

I have a 26 already also. it's just the butt of the 17 that barely pokes out so the shorter butt would be less noticeable. I was going to get a 19 mag first to test it out. I'll probably get a g30sf instead.

Sure.

CZ 75BD
Sig 220
Glock 21SF

I like the Don Hume 721OT for the bigger guns, really stabilizes the extra weight and keeps it close to the body.

A lot of days I lug a 6.5" .357 Blackhawk in a shoulder holster. I'm 5'10 175# and with an over shirt, you can't even tell I have that cannon on me.

I'm planning on buying a full sized Glock of some flavor next go around. Honestly, I don't think I'll have much trouble hiding it. I make my own belt holsters, so the size shouldn't be an issue. However, the weight and tendency to want to "flop" from the weight of a double stack mag might be an issue....but I'll figure it out;)

Carry a G22 in Galco Shoulder Holster in the Winter and a Graham Custom IWB in the summer.

A full-size gun is easy to conceal here in the midwest, considering we're wearing a heavy coat most of the year.
