As to quality, Manurhin is made in the Alsace regio, traditionally German in etnicity and outlook, even though they call sauerkraut, choucroute. I've never seen one in stainless (MR-73) and have seen them listed in blue only, with straw colored triggers and hammers.
The MR-96 is supposed to have chintzy, fragile sights from what a Swiss posted somewhere I searched for Manurhin. The MR-88 is a licensed derivation of the security-six.
Someone imports them still, but they seem to change importers every few years and be out of availability in between. Around $1500, or so I've heard for MR-73s (I think $2000 is asking price).
And they do have a proven service record in counter-terrorism and anti-hijacking details during the '70s&'80s. The Austrians also used them for a long time until recently, and some of these may find their way here.
