Flat National Sales Tax

I'd support it in a heartbeat. I voted for Forbes because of his flat tax plan, which was a 17% flat income tax BTW.

Living in one of the highest taxed states in the Union, I think we need to do something about it.

I'd support a sales taxes in lieu of a income tax. I fail to see where that's an problem for lower income people. One post alluded to the issue using a Plasma Screen TV purchase as an example. News flash- I don't have a plasma yet because, after taxes, I can't jusitify buying one. Yet, I had the opportunity to be in a house about a month ago where there were two, count 'em, two such sets. And the house was being rented by a crackhead who was on state aid. I find that ironic.

On a daily basis, I deal with people spending their aid on cell-phones, cable TV, better cars than I can afford, etc. Interesting enough, they pay no income tax. I'm just a bit tired of it.

"Did I really need to buy that $2,000 Ed Brown, or could I have spent that on food for 4 months and put the rest in savings.."

May I ask where you grocery shop?? I would love to be able to purchase 4 MONTHS worth of food for $2,000.00, and still have money to save after the fact!! Bill T.

Bill T., Hi, I did the math, it's about $17 per day in food costs stretched out over 120 days to total about $2,000. Also, I started drinking mostly water to cut back on calories. Those are the costs for me. Including my gf in the picture would add to the amount. I shop at Trader Joes for food and walmart for non-food items.
