41 Magnum

#1.- Think back, especially you old timers. What was the first handgun you ever shot ?

Or, possibly, another question entirely ;

#2.- What was the first handgun you ever owned ? Do you still own that particular handgun ?

My first experience was with an older neighbor boy's Hi-Standard Double Nine. I was 12 years old. That outing sold me on handguns. My own personal first handgun was bought for me by my Grandfather when I was 18, & was a like new Ruger Standard Model Semi-auto .22, which I later sold.:mad:

1st handgun I ever shot... hmmm... I honestly can't remember ( must not have made a huge impression on me ??? )

1st handgun I ever bought, was the one I thought was the most versitile handgun I could own... a stainless 4" 357 magnum... mine was ( & still is ) a GP-100, I bought used, that was about 23 years ago... my thinking at the time, was that my new ( at the time ) father in law, would lend me anything I might need a handgun for, that my 357 couldn't do... back then, I planned to buy only one handgun.... man, I was right on, with the most versitile handgun, I still feel that way today... butt, was I ever off base on it being my only one ;)

.22 revolver. Sorry I don't remember the make and model. I was about 7 and closely supervised.

I briefly owned a nickel plated .22 sub compact with fake mother pearl handles. That was until my parents and the parents of the guy I got it from found out.
I was in eighth grade.

Para Ordanace P12(Fathers Friends)--1911's ever since, single stack now though the real deal(S&W1911). Beretta 92FS (Fathers). Ever since that day when I was 9yrs old Ive been hooked.

It was my Grandfather's revolver,,,

I have no idea what it was,,,
I was maybe 5 years old when he let me shoot one round.

It was probably a .38 Special snubbie of some sort,,,
He always had a gun on him but he never wore a holster.

I spent a summer with the grandparents when I was 7 years old,,,
If I was a good boy during the day I got to shoot one cylinder from his .22

I remember that revolver model number very well,,,
It was a 4" S&W 22-32 Kit Gun,,,
I wanted that gun so bad.

When I was 12 years old I inherited a 1911,,,
I was probably 13-14 before I ever got to shoot it.

I do still own the first handgun I ever bought with my own money,,,
It's only by accident that I still have it though.

I recently found it in a box of stuff that had been in my Sisters attic,,,
It was a box of things I stored when I went to Basic Training.

I do remember buying it at a garage sale for $5.00,,,
I had to keep it hidden from my parents,,,
It is a true Saturday Night Special,,,
Shoots .22 short only.

I carried it around a lot for two years,,,
I don't remember when the front sight fell off.

When Dad finally found out I had it,,,
I told him I took the sight off so it would clear my pocket easier.

He said that was probably a good idea because when I pulled it on someone,,,
And they took it away from me and shoved it up my @$$,,,
It wouldn't hurt near as much coming back out.

They don't get much cheaper than this.

Ah memories,,,

I know Disco but it does feel like a long time. The 1911 bug bit me back then. Not just the 1911 bug but the all steel or alloy. No plastic though. :D

Everyone keeps talking about this bug biting... Ive never felt a bite..nor seen this huge bug either... but.. I know what you mean about nothing but metal.

My first handgun I ever shot and owned (same gun) was a Colt Python, .357 magnum. I think it had a 4" barrel. Sold it about a year after I got it, and now I wish I still had it.
I own almost solely S&W revos now, and I like them all better than I ever liked my Python.

Feel ya there Gearchecker...I have a colt trooper...but I like the feel, trigger, and overall characteristics..of the S&Ws over the colt.

First hangun i ever fired was some nine shot .22 revolver with about a 6" barrel. I didn't particularly like that gun.

First handgun i ever "owned" was given to me by my father, a .22LR "lightning" by AMT. Yes, the one that got them sued out of existance, or so i've been told. I GREATLY enjoyed that pistol & still have it but no longer shoot it.

The first center-fire revolver i "owned" was a snubby Titan revolver in .38 special. My grandmother traded it to me for an air horn citing a heavy trigger (she=upper 80's, me=maybe 15). I carried it frequently, but mostly in my car & with no malice aforethought. It is at my parents' home & was originally purchased by my father for his mother/my grandmother. I doubt anyone will ever shoot that thing again.

I feel so new to this... My first was a nickle colt .45 that my buddy made me rent at the indoor range. I had fun and was fairly accurate. Then on the same day he told me to try firing a magazine from the desert eagle .50. that was a peice of ...... only 2 at a time due to falure to load, however knowing more now it may have been my weak wrists at the time lol. I now own a Ruger p95dc and I must say I love it.. minus the tiny sights. I need some money to upgrade. Also my oldest son just turned 11 and is from MA so he would not get much handgun fun as I didnt when I was his age so I let him rent a p22 semi auto and he had a blast and was very focused and safe wich I found very amazing.

The first gun I ever fired was a S&W revolver .22 K-22 Masterpiece ....and yes, I have one in my collection now.

The first big frame revolver I ever fired was a S&W Highway Patrolman, model 28, 6" in .357 mag ......and I have a couple of model 27's and 28's ( N Frame S&W revolvers now as well ) ....

and I still have an older S&W Victory model .38spl revolver / that was bought new after WWII ended, by an uncle that was a sherriff's deputy, and he carried it for years. It was given to me when I was around 18 or so ...and I still have that gun as well.

I was in the service when I fired my first semi-auto handgun - a 1911 ....and I have a lot of 1911's today in my collection / and shoot one or two of them every week.

My grandfathers 357 4inch Rossi was the first gun i ever shot.

My first gun iv ever owned was a Star 30m. Still have both, Grandfathers is mint condition but the 30m has been shot till it bled.

Man i shoot a lot, lol

The first handgun ever shot was a S&W model 18, a 4" .22 combat masterpiece. While I don't have that particular one, I did buy another which I still have. The first handgun I owned is a Ruger Bearcat which I still own and shoot occasionally.

The first handgun I ever shot was an H&R .22 owned by my uncle. It was the 6 shot model with a 6 inch barrel, and you had to remove the cylinder to eject the empties. I own one much like it now.
The first one I owned was a Replica .44 Colt 1860 army cap and ball revolver. I currently have FOUR of them. (It's a disease, I tell ya!)
My first cartridge handgun was a S&W M58 .41 magnum M&P revolver. I sold that one, but was lucky enough to find another...at twice the price.

The first handgun I ever fired was my daddy's WWII 1911. I was about 8 years old, and that would be about 1964. Yes, I remember it very clearly.

Or, possibly, another question entirely ;
#2.- What was the first handgun you ever owned ? Do you still own that particular handgun ?
I bought a 1911 at a gun show. It turned out to be a totally butchered POS. Nonetheless, I bought another...and a bunch more thereafter. No, I dont have that POS anymore, but I have a few very functional examples of the 1911 currently. :)
