Fighting Back for our gun rights

fal308 - good job, I'm anxious to see the reply.

Jordan - I am not so much affronted by the law enforcement titles; I never really saw them as "exclusionary" (i.e. OK for cops but not civvies). If you wanted to target the law enforcement market, it seems you would lean the image in that direction. Just a thought...

How are we doing on the new list of companies that support anti-gun legislation? Anybody make any progress on capturing some existing research and posting it here?

MarkW - thanks for the link! How bout a thumbnail review of your site - any resources that the TFL folks might find useful?

Michelle and I offered to be acting webadmins for wagc.org site...they got back to us with a "maybe, probably" and we have not heard back from them yet.

Jordan,

First: Those titles are published by the same companies that publish the other gun mags too, so costing them money would be kinda like costing Colt money because you don't like 1911's and expecting it not to affect the cost of your next Sporter.

Second: I haven't put on any fatigues since I was in the army and I have never been issued a full-auto weapon.

Third: read pg 34 of April 1999 Guns & Ammo if you want to know how the average local LEO feels.

Cornered Rat:

Remember: The feds have all the good equipment. ;)

Rob:
Thank you for your response. Your first point is valid and well put. I wasn't aware of this and I'm sure you're right.

However, it does nothing to abrogate my concern or desire to express that concern to the publisher of those magazines. In fact it sharpens it! The bad laws that have placed these "special" weapons only in the hands of military and law enforcement are wrong. To perpetuate this fraud in popular print is wrong. I am not appeased simply because, elsewhere on the newstand, they've offered something like, "Guns and Ammo: Weapons Politically-Approved for Civilian Cosumption".

Your second and third points? I would love to share my rebuttal with you on e-mail to avoid cluttering, and robbing momentum from, Michael Marks' good thread.

Jordan,
These are specialty magazines aimed at a particular audience. Just like the "civillian" gun magazines are aimed at hunters and shooters, These address topics of interest to police and military personnel.I don't wish to offend, but your view is like hating Hot Rod magazine simply because you are not a racer. Do you get my point?

OK, first lesson of a winning effort is team unity. When we have the mountain of anti-gunners like Sarah Brady off our backs, we can turn attention to the subtleties of titles among pro-gun magazines. I suggest we keep our eyes on the opponent and let those who are even remotely on our side go forward as they see fit.

Second, lets start migrating some of the data on some of these other threads to this website. It is good to drop a URL, but even better if you can capture, dehydrate and post some good, clean facts we can all get to at one point. That is how a progressive effort will pick up steam.

Looks like I will be speaking before the Maryland congress later this month defending 2nd Amendment and Concealed Carry. I'll keep everyone posted. Lets see if we can get some reserach on the TIME, Inc family, and the top five anti-gun newspapers in the USA. Who they are, complete dossiers on subsidiaries, and who is advertising in those publications. Any dope you get, condense and post here.
I am getting a steady flow of mail from folks willing to lend resources to this effort, so lets capture the momentum while it is hot.

Received a reply from Avery.

"Avery Denison does not have any specific corporate policy or stance relating to firearms and firearms laws. Employees are not permitted to carry firearms anywhere near our offices or manufacturing facilitites(sp) for obviuos reasons. However. that is the extent of any "formal" policy or stance.

I hope that this answers your question. If I can be of further assistance, please advise.

Sounds as if there is an unwritten rule in place. Am thinking of replying to the "for obvious reasons" wording, asking for clarification.

One of my friends, when told that such-and-such company is anti-RKBA, always asks for original sources. Newsgroups or forums aren't. How do we know about Ben and Jerrie's, for example?

Thank you.

I love seeing great ideas being formulated!!!
Im going to the Supermarket today and sending inevery damn anti-gun magazine subscription card I can find.

Just thought of something, though. Do any of you think maybe we should keep some of our ideas, such as requesting fliers and such from anti-gun groups, a little less public? We wouldn't want "the enemy" to find out about our wonderful plans, would we? Maybe we could communicate some of our more revolutionary or devious plans through e-mail to keep it a little more secret. Well, just a thought, keep up the good work!

Dear Friends, At least those of us over 50, do not forget AARP. They are very, tres, mucho, mui anti gun.

They all must learn.

Received the reply to my clarification:
"You had asked me to expand on my statement that'Employees are not permitted to carry firearms anywhere near our offices of manufacturing facilities for obvious reasons.' My point in stating that this was for 'obvious reasons' was that the company does not want employees to carry firearms around other employees since this has the potential to make people feel uncomfortable. Additionally, it is not a safe practice.

I hope that this answers your question.
