Thats all I was shootin' for. Its not that I don't think training and testing are a bad idea, but when they are mandated and required in order to exercise a right it becomes a very slippery slope. Sure, it might start out with the best of intentions, but what happens when someone like a Hillary Clinton or Diane Feinstein gets to a position where they can dictate the requirements for attaining that license and excercising that right? Thats my problem with such requirements; they can quickly become onerous and insurmountable depending on who wields polticical power.

But that's not the point. I don't question your patriotism, your service or your value as an American. Why on earth would you speak of those like me as though we are not equally deserving?

I understand LEO "training"....I dedicate half my career to it. And I understand non-LEO "training"....I dedicate the other half to that. The only thing I've learned is this: neither mandated training nor "qualifications" can make me comfortable with your firearms skills.....only personal responsibility and a level head can do that. A hammer and level does not make you a carpenter.

I recognize there are people in BOTH groups who should not be carrying a gun. The difference between you and I (apparently), is that I'm not willing to legislate the line. I'll take my chances with ALL Law Abiding Citizens carrying....no "tests"; no judgments. Evolution will handle the rest, thanks very much.

Rich Lucibella....Please don't put words into my mouth. I never insinuated that "those like you are not equally deserving". That's paranoid thinking. I don't consider myself any better than anyone else. My opinions are just that, MY opinions. It seems as though you read too much into it and took it personally.
I hope someday that we all can carry CCW nationwide. That way, the bad guy will feel surrounded, and think twice before doing something stupid. There is strength in numbers.
