Federal Air Marshal guns/ammo questions...

No wooden bullets ever. No Glasers since waaayyy back when they were "Sky Marshals" carrying Charter Arms Bulldogs. Gold Dots these days.

As far as issued vs "other" weapons, they don't have the luxury of using they're own personal guns, picking up guns off the ground, getting them from their friends, or purchasing them from the local black market. Like every other federal agency they take what they're given, like it or not. That includes guns, ammo, magazines, holsters, cuffs, etc, etc. The only place they may have options would be holsters depending on mode of dress but the holsters would still need to meet retention requirements and perhaps accessability policy.

This is security sensitive, need-to-know info, and all this thread is doing is making it easy for Johnny Jihad and the boys to discern what they will be facing should they try something stupid on a plane again. I'd rather see a surprised look on their faces as they carry their corpses off the plane.

All this thread is providing is information the Air Marshall program has publicly disclosed about itself or which has come out of other open sources.

"Loose lips sink ships" does not apply when discussing information the government releases about itself.

As said above, there is a real deterrent factor in knowing how these guys operate. Johnny Jihad doesn't know where or when the marshall might be on board, but he does know that the shooting standard is a hit to the spinal column from the draw, and that marshalls are authorized and trained to shoot through anyone to hit the bad guy. That tends to give Johnny Jihad a bit of pause as he doesn't mind dying but he does mind failing.

As a former Marshal (not Fed), I would like to point out that the proper spelling is as above, with one "L", not two. Common mistake, as shown by many postings here.

Now you've done it. The terrorists will know exactly how to counter a phaser attack.

Not to worry. The Air Marshals are going to be switching to phased plasma rifles in the 40 kilowatt range soon.
